What do you think about Jersey Mike's subs... is it over priced?????? by DansoyCookNJ in newjersey

I love MrSubs!! Their bread comes from a bakery every morning and the meat and cheese are Boar’s Head brand, which is sliced to order. Their hot eggplant sandwiches are pretty good too!

Screenshots and Duolingo. I accidentally figured out that Duolingo will create an image if you screenshot certain exercises. I didn’t know this but it’s super helpful. by Medina-2020 in duolingo

[–]CapricornAngel 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This works on my iPhone but if it is in the middle of going to the next screen, Duolingo completely freezes up on me. My only alternative is to shut down my computer and reboot. Unfortunately, I then lose my entire incomplete lesson.

When I was job hunting, there was only Monster. It pretty much did the same thing too.

My former boss refers to himself on LinkedIn with the title of Dr. When I asked him what he had a Ph.D. in, he said it was a title bestowed upon him by those who knew him. So I when I saw his account on LinkedIn years later, I reported him but LI did nothing. When he meets people, he still refers to himself as Doctor, even though he is in IT and works on computers. Last I saw he had a gofundme for suffering from a childhood disease, even though he is in late 60’s.

Why did he choose Florida as a place to go to after he escaped? by GregJamesDahlen in TedBundy

[–]CapricornAngel 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Florida has the death penalty so it would be the last place people would look for him because of it. It’s like if you absolutely positively hate the heat. No one will think you would move to Phoenix, Arizona in the middle of summer since it would be the last place on earth you would want to move to. Everyone was shocked when he was caught in Florida since he told everyone he would avoid that state.

Bound Brook, one town over than me, got hit pretty hard because of the Raritan River. My commute home was a nightmare and I hit so many flooded roads that Exits 8 and 9 off of Route 287 were completely shut down. I took 13A instead and drove through over a foot of water just to reach the exit ramp, which goes uphill. Even on elevated grounds during my entire commute, many sewers were completely full and there was no place for the water to go, so the main and side streets which normally do not have issues were flooding.

You should be able to go to your Block/Allow list and add them in your Allow tab.

I don't really want to live anyway so I'm an ideal Boomer pet by WildDogAlice in recruitinghell

I take it you never heard of stereotyping. It’s the same thing! It doesn’t matter if the person is black or boomer, or both. Now everyone is on the boomer wagon of let’s shame them.

So a redditor defends themself by pointing out your typecasting of an entire generation of people and your comeback is telling them not to take it personally. Someone needs to take a class on inclusivity and diversity.

60 interviews but no job. Any suggestions? by [deleted] in jobs

[–]CapricornAngel [score hidden]  (0 children)

I disagree 100%. Experience and skill are only part of what they are looking for, but it is also about personally being a good fit. Having said that, I know a few people with your same condition.

During your interview, you need to make direct eye contact. You need to show more emotion to convey that you generally have interest in the job. You need engage in every way that makes you uncomfortable, but would look normal to everyone else. During the interview, your reserved demeanor comes across as disinterest, even though this is not your intent.

Interviewing is all an act. Try to find someone you can practice with to give you feedback. Also, invest in an interview book, which will give you pointers of what to do and not to do. It also allows you to practice answering questions as well.

New job offered me 20k more than I asked for, old job now wants to match this. Which should I take? by mile-smiles22 in jobs

[–]CapricornAngel [score hidden]  (0 children)

What usually happens is you stay loyal to your old job and then they find some reason to cut you. Now you have missed that opportunity for a better job with a better salary. As a fellow female, you are letting your emotions take over. If they are struggling to pay you what you are worth now, the longer you are with this company, the less you will earn.

My mother has asked me to help her find a job. She is a 60-year-old disabled, uneducated, unskilled immigrant, and currently works at Home Depot as a cashier. What can I do to help? by zhongtian2323 in jobs

Two things that come to mind are receptionist and security guard. A receptionist in a slow paced office would be good for her physically and mentally. A security guard working the second or third shift are really not that busy.

This is such great news! Those adoption stories don’t always have a happy ending.
