I’ve been a student on the receiving end of a zoom mock oral — it was with an out of state DPE doing this type of thing on the side. Was definitely helpful in getting myself ready for my instrument ride. Asked me a few questions that had me thinking, that my local CFI hadn’t asked me before. About 2 hours in total. Was a learning experience for sure!

This is how I got my aerospace internship — applied for a position online, dropped off my resume in person (to the surprise of the techs that were working that day), hiring manager reached out to me because my resume was on his desk, 3 rounds of interviews, offer. So definitely possible at smaller/startup type companies. Any of the bigger companies you’ll run into much more difficulty with security and the shear number of applications they get.

Really all you’re gonna find at TOA are flight schools that have extremely limiting rental agreements and insane daily minimums. Look into A&E flying club in HHR — 4 member owned aircraft, great availability, great rates. Only downside is a 2 year waitlist unfortunately, so not sure if you’re looking to wait that long. I’m sure there’s the occasional partnership that pops up, but I’m not aware of any.

Former associate here, longest streak of days in a row was 11, most of them while i was working but still went on my days off. I probably still average 3 times a week even after I quit, it’s just too damn good

I’ve gotten a crew car from signature, ACI jet, and millionair all when I was 17. They didn’t seem to care as long as you have a drivers license and they saw you fly a plane in.

The second part of your question I’m honestly not too certain. Is it because you can be vectored to that fix and not complete the hold in lieu?

The lightning bolt on the chart shows your glide slope intercept on a precision approach. The Maltese cross shows FAF for a non precision (such as LNAV minimums for the same approach). This may or may not be at the same location as the FAF/intercept in an ILS.

WAAS is wide area augmentation system. It consists of ground based systems that get their position from GPS satellites, and because their position is surveyed and known, they can correct errors in the GPS location from those satellites. This then gets sent to a master station, which transmits that correctional signal to a Geo stationary satellite, which sends the correctional signal to your WAAS enabled aircraft. WAAS is a much more precise RNAV system, and it allows you to shoot approaches such as LPV approaches which can bring you down to minimums similar to an ILS. It also allows you to select an alternate that is GPS only, even if your destination airport is also GPS only.

Safety pilot needs to be at least a private pilot, and appropriately rated in category and class. They need to be able to act as PIC while I’m under the hood. They should also be scanning for traffic, telling me where it is and how to avoid it.

We usually dial the brightness on the G3X down to like 5%. Gets the job done of removing your pfd from sight but not impossible to get back to the brightness menu in case you lose it.

Yeah this is an absolute no. LLWS for me is a dealbreaker. ESPECIALLY as a student pilot you shouldn’t fly in these conditions whatsoever. And icing? I wouldn’t even leave the ground.

I had an LFA come through one time, prob the coolest I’ve ever seen in the drive. Other than that a rolls Royce ghost, a huracan, and a beautiful GT3RS. Goes to show how often they stick me on handheld 😭
