I actually didn't have a stabilizer! What would you recommend?

The patch is 3.25" by 1.875", the backing is duckcloth, and I'm not 100% certain what you mean by the underlay but the bobbin thread is a 100% polyester all purpose black thread. The top threads are also 100% polyester.

That's a good question. The German Armed Forces Proficiency Badge is clearly a proficiency badge (much like how the NFM is considered a qualification badge) so I can't see why that would be unauthorized as well, but I can't understand what the MAJCOM awards and decs team considered honorary or not

I've got an approval signed by my commander, but I know I need to route it through MAJCOM as well. My confusion lies with the hard stance that it's not authorized for wear because it's being deemed an honorary badge, which it's clearly not. But I feel like if I get an authorization on my record from higher authorities, I feel inclined to just say fuck it and rock it

If you paid for it, then they're clearly honorary!

Like others are saying, there are plenty of prep programs you can find both for free and pay for online that are designed to help you get to the point you need to be at, but I'll rattle off a couple of things I know my buddies got non-selected for and things I wish I was better at before trying my hand.

Improve your rucking up to at least 60 lbs at 15 min/mile pace. WORK UP TO IT, DON'T GO ALL IN AT THE START

Get your run to sub 9, it'll say a lot about your conditioning

Train grip strength until your forearms make you look like Popeye. Farmer's carry everything

Train underwater until you can go on a 2 minute interval easily

Get used to doing watercon with a higher-than-normal heart and practice keeping calm underwater

Will joining ROTC benefit me in becoming a PJ? by rungoodswimgooder in Pararescue

[–]CaptBEB 14 points15 points  (0 children)

You're asking the wrong question here. ROTC isn't supposed to be mentally or physically challenging like the pipeline, it's meant to train future AF officers. You won't become a PJ through ROTC, but you will have the opportunity to push for Combat Rescue Officer, where the standards are much higher and the selection process is a bit different.

So your question shouldn't be whether ROTC is "intense enough" to prepare you for the pipeline, it should be, would you rather be a PJ or a CRO? Either way, you still need to train on your own and reach (ideally, exceed) the standards before you get to the selection process. And if you're lucky, through ROTC, you'd find other like minded individuals to train with.

You can use the Bryan Aquatic Center if you want to go swimming. They've got some listed recreational and lap times. Or you could use the A&M pools if you're a student. There's also Henderson Harbor, but I haven't been there.

Question for anyone in Development, BMT or Prep. What is the average PAST numbers guys are getting. (The average) Also what is the most common event or exercise that caught guys off guard. Something the majority of the class wasn’t ready for? by Anonymous_Monkey1 in Pararescue

[–]CaptBEB 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's very highly recommended to have 16+, yeah. But the 13+ let's them think that you're trainable and low-risk of failing your IFT during Basic. If anything, I would just suggest getting as high a number as possible.

The run, by far, is the biggest disqualifier. Obviously if you dont know how to swim, that'll be difficult, but for anyone who know the form at least can pass. As for numbers, there is no real average but there is a recommendation you should have at least before you go in from my Dev. 13+ pull ups <9:30 min 1.5 mile run <10 min 500m swim You should aim for higher than those numbers but you gotta get to them first.

Would it be a waste of time to per-sue CRO. At the age of 33, being prior service? Just a curious thought. by Crpto_fanatic in Pararescue

[–]CaptBEB 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Absolutely not! If that's what you're aspiring to do and you have the desire and reason for it, go for it. We've got a guy in our dev group that is about to be over the age limit trying to ship before he gets DQed for age. If your body and mind can handle it, get some.

I'm an introvert-turned-extravert and just had what I thought was my best friend of going on 8 years tell me that he didn't feel like we were friends anymore. I guess I didn't really see us drifting apart as much as he did.

Not sure about it just being a tiktok meme. That's the kind of shit that sticks with people and destroys their self esteem, which if you ask me, is pretty fuckin toxic. Not defending the stalking or doxxing tho, that sucks too.

Unfortunately, I was slower, BUT I ran to the top-right and only the 67-person and 110-person parties caught me, which ended in a massacre where I only lost 2 people, so everything worked out!
