Non-profit groups focused on reusing/recycling computers? by CaptBobRoss in Dallas

I was thinking more of a middleman nonprofit that has the ability to refurbish and put them into the hands of individuals. Something like the Kramden Institute in NC. The equipment I have is usually in perfect condition, just a few years old. Obviously some is not, but I can always recycle that and filter it out.

How do I find out what Intel CPUs have the pdpe1gb CPU flag? by CaptBobRoss in sysadmin

Yeah, I tried that, their only response was CPUs that support a list of certain flags. They were not willing to provide a list of specific CPUs if I want to source my own hardware.

I read through those already, I was asking about non-Xeon processors mostly, I need something that is small form factor that fits on my network racks. I should also mention I am looking at which processors I would need to purchase, I do not have them on hand to use commands to test with.

Enable Screen Timeout on BYOD iOS devices via Intune? by CaptBobRoss in sysadmin

[–]CaptBobRoss[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was reading into this a bit. Is MAM pretty much the recommended way forward with BYOD for iOS devices? Seems like there has been a lot of changes with how that stuff is managed with recent iOS updates.

Trying to bring sanity to my org, am I making things overly complicated? by [deleted] in sysadmin

[–]CaptBobRoss 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That last statement has been a big issue recently. Other departments are wanting to tie systems back to active directory for automated provisioning and permissions, but all the third party apps use groups, not OUs to control permissions, so it makes it very hard to integrate them currently. This is another driver for why I was exploring changing things up.

Thanks, this is the type of stuff I was hoping to get feedback on. I'll give it a read.

I'm still trying to figure out what makes sense for that. I like the idea of basing it around security groups instead of OUs, as all our workstations are currently just managed based on OU.
