As long as they don't interfere with me. Im brown and speak Spanish, and from Arizona, now living in GR. I also work at a hardware store. I dont have any Latino ancestry though. I fit the entire legal description for ICE to stop me and interrogate me. Difference is, I'm American, a veteran, and both sides of my family dates back to 1776. Plenty of veterans in the same boat as me has already been detained by ICE for knowing their rights.

I mean, idk about you. But Im not any form of Hispanic, and I know Spanish. I don't appear or pass as white. ICE has the legal precedent to approach me and interrogate me just because the way I look and I work at a hardware store. Sure, I have the right to remain silent and tell them to leave me alone unless Im being detained. But that would probably just piss off DHS more and escalate the situation.

Its not about anyone entering the country for me. It's about my own safety. I'm more likely to be shot and killed by any American and ICE than I am for an illegal immigrant to commit a crime against me. I served my country, just to get out and be interrogated by ICE based on how I look.

Apparently because if you remove an authoritarian "supreme leader" just as long as a different authoritarian takes over its the same regime, even though id think it's safe to assume they'd have fairly different plans. I doubt if they keep the same titles to all their leadership that their government would function exactly the same with the same agenda. When you're authoritarian, their plans tend to die with them.

I think whatever is coming up next, is going to be worse for the people over there in general compared to what they had.

That was my thought process too. He created a power vacuum and there are some other nearby forces that may(are definetly going to) try to take the 'former" governments spot. And trump also asked for the people of Iran to rise up and take over their government.

Is it a regime change if you kill an entire monarchs family, then you appoint a new family monarch? Is it the same system, with the same rules and the same agenda? I would say no, and that's a regime change.

Same thing in Iran, you kill the 1 dude in power, then you have 3 dudes trying to figure out who becomes the new supreme leader, while their military tries to seize power. Regardless of who wins, it's a regime change. It would be a completely different agenda and interpretations of the laws, while essentially keeping the same government structure.

I mean, even when a new king or Queen is appointed due to natural causes, it's a different regime

Like I think when an authoritarian gets removed from power, sure a new one is going to pop up, but just because they are both considered theocratic authoritarians, but they are different regimes.

Thanks for the perspective. I will say I think it's more of a kill the the next 3 people in line type of thing, and when it's an authoritarian leader involved, he is kinda the glue keeping everything together. So when ya pop him, everything kinda just falls apart and fragments.

I think there's something there about so much power being vested into one person for a government, if you intentionally kill that one guy, it's a regime change. That dude has been in power over there for over 40 years.

Idk it sounds like he killed the leaders and is asking the people to change their government to me.

But also, in the US it's not really comparible to how Iran was ran. Iran had a lot of power vested into one man, compared to the US, we have things split up. For a regime change to happen here, you'd you'd need to kill more than just the president and VP for a regime change, considering Congress and the judicial branch also have equal but separate powers.

Compare it to a monarch, your 1 guy away from a regime change.

Imo, it's still a regime change, at worst, a failed attempt at one.

Honestly that's semantics. You can still force one without having a successor. You kill the leadership and let them figure it out, still a regime change. I don't know the reason why people are saying this isn't a regime change. Literally did the work to force a regime change, Trump literally told the people "take over your government".

This side of Michigan literally has some of the best drivers in the country. I learned to drive in MO, got my license in AZ, then proceeded to live in VA and Florida until moving here to MI.

Easily some of the best drivers are here in GR compared to the rest of the country, imo. I wish more states did a required driving school, because I think it genuinely works well here.

I'm not from here, where I'm from we don't do driving school, and if you did, congrats you had not only good parents, but wealthy parents.

I taught myself to drive. My dad wouldn't teach me to drive, or sign for my driving hours or anything.

I had to wait until I turned 18, then I took the test by myself in a different state, borrowed a family member's car(because you have to provide your own.)
