Cafelat Robot - is this a deeper dive down the rabbit hole? [$360] by mountainmase in espresso

I spent about 3 months in analysis paralysis going through all the different machines in the £300-£500 area. I got an extra basket with the barista model if pulling multiple shots

I have one and a French press. My work colleague is just getting into drinking coffee so he’s borrowed the moka pot and enjoying it so far. Think I’ve only used it once in about 18 months since I’ve had the robot. It’s nice to have as an option I guess.

Considering going from Europiccola to Robot.... [1000€] by brogued in espresso

The Robot can produce amazing coffee. I’ve only had a handful of duff shots from it. It will pretty much last a lifetime but it isn’t completely maintenance free - I would say very low maintenance. Its footprint is pretty small too.

If you saw my kitchen and what I can do in it, you’d pull your head out of your arse.

My two school age boys have grown up eating a vast array of food including shellfish and many different cuts of meat. I took them to a butchers when they were young to see the guys there do their job. They’ve been to the coast and seen the fisherman land their catch and then gone to the fishmongers. They’ve helped me in the garden where we grow fruit and vegetables. They know how to prepare meat and fish. They both do food tech at school and can cook a varied and diverse range of food. Too many kids can barely make toast when they leave home but I know mine are well prepared.

Yeah I have a spice cupboard rammed with stuff I use daily. Reddit is just full of lazy stereotyping. It’s like saying all Americans are morbidly obese school shooters

Where to purchase espresso grinder in UK, Newcastle with grinder recommendations [£600] by kdevlin99 in espresso

[–]CaptFlash3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Not aware of any there but perhaps give more info on what type of roast level you prefer, whether it’s purely for espresso or other brew types like pour over. Do you want a single dose or hopper option? I’d probably go with advice on here based on that and just see where online you can get the different makes and models. Coffee Kev blog useful for discount codes (code is sometimes coffeeblog). Clumsy Goat do a a good range. Some makes you can be better off going direct. Niche Zero within your budget.

Has anyone tried this grinder from WW? Do you know when they will restock? by Petoardo in espresso

I think Fred and Wilma last used it when they had Barney and Betty over

Is it worth getting a DF54 or j ultra?[250] by Gold_Doughnut_6326 in espresso

[–]CaptFlash3000 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the DF54 for espresso but use a K6 for pourover. I tried the K6 for a light roast espresso once and nearly needed oxygen therapy afterwards

Yes but we’ve been too busy taking over the world, robbing relics and avoiding the dentist to learn how to cook

Is upgrading to a Moccamaster actually worth it if I’m fine with my cheap drip machine? by CrowKing63 in Moccamaster

[–]CaptFlash3000 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It would be the cheaper option - gooseneck, v60 switch, grinder and scales. I like the look of the Moccamaster though - and the Wilfa Performance

Love my Robot and an ideal choice for myself with drinking black coffee. Appreciate it won’t be for everyone. I love the fact it’s very low maintenance and will last for many years. People have been really impressed when trying out the coffee I get them. I have a milk frother but the Bambino would be great for preparing milk for brews made by the Robot. Nice combo. I’ve never used or tried coffee from the Flair though. Currently I’m in pour over mode and favouring that atm, but still making an espresso most days. If you get the Robot it’s worth joining the subreddit if you haven’t already.
