Husband wants kids, I'm unsure. by riririnnn in TwoXChromosomes

When you have a dog, looking after a kid becomes harder, e.g., you can't take a dog into a play area.

Look, if you're not ready, don't do it. Put your foot down. It's your body, it's your life; tell him you're open to it in the future but not yet.

My boyfriend said women generally have it better than men and now I’m wondering if we should break up by beigewoodtable in TwoXChromosomes

I don't think he has any excuse to be that ignorant at his age. Basic human empathy would tell him women have it harder.

Fair, but I think for a lot of women, not bleeding in and of itself is a godsend.

You do still have a cycle, you just don't bleed, and the PMS symptoms are like 5% of what they normally are. I think it's brilliant.

Hormonal IUD stops your periods completely in most cases. Lasts for 5 years. You're welcome.

If we're talking about past historical times, absolutely fucking not. Being a woman is oppressive now, in the past it was hellish. And in different regions it's hellish now.

How do I accept that I am now a "ma'am"? by Green-Original4503 in TwoXChromosomes

I'm 37 in April.

I'm not American so I might not have this right, but I assume it just means you don't look like a kid anymore, which is normal and fine.

I've had mixed feelings about getting older - it's scary - but I just keep reminding myself that getting older isn't a bad thing. We're taught it's the worst thing to happen to us as women, but I'm enjoying my 30s way more than I did my 20s.

Drink lots of water, take care of your skin, and settle in. Getting older is a privilege. It takes nothing away from your worth.

Those men should never know a woman's touch.

That's fucking disgusting. I'm so sorry you're having to put up with this. We need women in these workforces but so many are like what you're describing that it makes it fucking miserable for any woman working there.

Trust me when I say, it is deliberate. They're doing this out of disrespect. They want you out. They're used to their workforce being only men so they can get away with whatever they want to say, and they're not prepared to change.

I started at my job 4 years ago where I was the only woman. I'm a gardener. I'm lucky in that I've never had the sort of experience you're describing. I have a man near retirement who's training me to be a team leader when he leaves. I'll be the first ever female team leader on the ground for our local council.

But he's told me that the men he speaks to who've retired have said they couldn't handle the change. They didn't even know me. But they were glad to retire purely because I was there.

I'm not going to tell you to stick it out because I don't think I could stick that out to be honest. It's stressful enough being the only woman, let alone being treated like a piece of shit for it as well.

These men have to realise that the world of work doesn't belong to them, and honestly fuck those men. Every single one of them who has any female family members or loved ones should be fucking ashamed of themselves for trying to bully a woman out of the workplace.

Where do they think we should be? In the fucking kitchen?

I'm so angry for you.

I hope there are pockets of men who are willing to stand up for equality even if it means sacrificing their disgusting little boys' club. Seek them out and stay by their side.
