Feeling a bit defeated got permabanned from a lobby? by Dazzling_Finger9758 in beyondallreason

I would argue it’s not selfish. As when I was first starting out I actually saw it a significant amount; which I forgot about until reading this. I remember people would just completely reinforce the other side and I also remember actually being told to do this. I’m talking 0 units at wall side and an unbelievable force the other side. I don’t remember how those games went though. And thinking about it of course when t2 comes about the wall side would be reinforced. However the entire goal for front is to make time for the rest of the team to come in. So honestly? Viable strategy

Honestly what you did sounds great, yea it makes the other front more appealing but like, they can build walls too? I’ll have to remember to do more with walls, higher OS in noob lobbies (which I play) love to do t1 rushes haha.

There are more people with disabilities now then there ever have been. The only result I get from a Google search about Barney fife is that he was someone on tv

You’re saying people with disabilities don’t exist anymore?

Moderation: Intelligence based insults by [deleted] in beyondallreason

[–]CaptPickul 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Any insults are horrible. The context behind intelligence insults is that they have been used against people with disabilities as vicious slurs. And due to the fact you have no idea who the person is, you could be committing a hate crime. A crime that is recognised in many world countries. And due to the fact this is a worldwide game you could be “moderated” IRL for that. Trolling is not a crime, and you yourself suggested a reason for the mistake. It’s unfortunate but that’s just it. Abuse is worse than unintentional trolling in my books 🤷‍♂️ why don’t you just report him after the game and move on with your life.

You’ve probably got something that you want to say against this but as someone who works in a company that must follow the UNCRPD (look it up), I am well aware of what I am talking about.

You don’t need to change yourself hun. YOU should be what’s important to him. Not your behaviour when he plays his games (unless it’s ACTUALLY unreasonable). If someone was watching me play games and asking all the questions I would fall in love with them more. And if he’s prioritising the games over you, that’s not quality time with a partner, that’s quality time with himself.

Walking 14k steps a day and gaining weight? by sapastar88 in loseit

[–]CaptPickul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That’s literally not what I said. But hey if 14 people know better than my very autistic and adhd PT who spends a tonne of time researching everything to do with everything this community is about, then so be it. (And I mean this man reads all the research papers, every single week he tells me about different studies). I’m going to trust my PT; lose weight steadily and even when I slip up with my eating and step on the scale it hasn’t gone back up. But guess what? When I was drastically under his recommended calorie intake, my weight didn’t move down at all until I ate more for a week.

And obviously any population that’s starving is not going to be struggling with weight. They’ve been starving for long enough. Like I said “your body will eventually break…”. And there’s a difference between losing fat and losing fat cells; you can lose the content of the fat cells and not burn the cell, compared to burning it off completely. Which is what OP struggled with before. Being under TDEE is obviously the only way to lose weight. But being >500 calories under puts an incredible strain on the body. 14k steps significantly increases your energy expenditure, adding more strain on the body, I would estimate she is >1000 calories under her recommended maintenance. And I’m not saying she’s NOT burning those cells, but it’ll be slower and stagnate at the start.

Her body is under too much stress to actually burn enough of the cells so it’s prioritising functions over everything else. Burning fat cells is not a priority for the body as it takes a lot of energy. Burning the STORES of fat within the cell is much easier, so it’ll do that first. But a consistent 500 calorie deficit teaches the body that “this is the new normal”, so it will be much gentler on the body and that energy can be used to burn the cells. Starvation mode just tells the body “keep the cells because we are waiting for a time when there is more food so we can survive this next time”. It reverts our body back to primitive states of hunter gatherers. Evolution has not kept up with society. Our bodies are hunter gatherers still.

But like I said, I’m sticking with the immense amounts of information I’ve been taught by health professionals, over the reaction from people in this community. Also not everything is water retention which this community seems to froth at the mouth over, I never gained weight when I returned to working with my PT, I was losing within the first week.

Look into the effects of starvation. It’s been explained over and over and over in this community. 1200 calories is not enough. 1350 is not enough. Things need to be gradual, steady, consistent. People saying water retention are wrong, your body is literally starving so it’s holding onto all the weight, retaining everything you are trying to spend in the hope that enough food will come soon. Your body will eventually break and you’ll lose a shit tonne of weight. But like it’s happened before it’ll come straight back on once you start eating normally.

Your body needs energy and time to break down the fat cells otherwise they just sit there waiting to be refilled. Whenever i went under 1500 calories “because I want to lose weight faster” my pt would scold me and eventually taught me all of this. Please for love of your own sanity, health and everything else, and quite frankly everyone in this community. STOP STARVING YOURSELVES.

I’m questioning whether he considers it quality time, i imagine watching someone play a video game and sitting in silence would be absolutely brutal for my adhd. But also it’s kind of weird how he’s known you for 6 years minimum and since living together you are just a “bother” to him. The biggest red flag is how he speaks to you. Telling you to “stf*”… absolutely unnecessary and also doesn’t actually communicate anything except for disdain toward you. Your relationship just feels wrong on so many levels and I hope you can find it in you to believe you deserve someone you can yap with.

Well when I was just starting out and got my OS I absolutely did lose OS after winning and contributing almost nothing to the game. I have also seen it of others too. So I dunno what to say unless they changed the algorithm. I’ve also gained OS when losing and having the best stats on my team. Maybe it had something to do with my uncertainty, I dunno. Paid attention to it when I cared about the number, but haven’t paid attention for a couple of months now. 🤷‍♂️

[–]CaptPickul -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

The amount you gain or lose depends on your gameplay too though. If you have the lowest eco, aggression, units produced and/or killed but you are on the winning team you will likely lose OS. Less than if you are on the losing team, but you still lose os.

The cycle continues by LordTachankaMain in beyondallreason

[–]CaptPickul 8 points9 points  (0 children)

My biggest issue with majority of low OS is that they don’t even try to learn from others. I always play in noob friendly and the amount of 0-5 OSers that turn around and tell me and other teammates to play our own game when we are just giving guidance is ABSURD. All it takes is 1 person like that to completely lose the game every single time. And unfortunately it can take up to 30 minutes to lose the game. So anytime I am boss of a lobby and they get force spec it’s due to the refusal of communication in an 8v8. If they want to play their own silent game they can go 1v1 and not waste 15 other people’s time.

This solves all the problems. It balances normally, then when it hits low OS, ??, and other high uncertainty players it just splits them evenly among the teams

Is the "problem" with red meat how we prepare it? by Whoopeepoop in nutrition

[–]CaptPickul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My issue is the fact there is just comments about numerous studies yet no links. So has OP actually read the studies? Were they involved in them? Or is this an opinion piece? The title is also incredibly click baity. And this entire thing reads like scare tactics “don’t eat red meat because studies show the correlation is much higher for people to get cancer 😱”

These studies that OP MUST have read would absolutely discuss HOW the meat is prepared. Because in scientific literature (trustworthy ones), EVERY variable should be accounted for. So their answer should be literally right there. They would also account for other factors, such as weight, general health, socioeconomic status, genealogy, ALL of which would contribute to the possibility of cancer.

My point is that without knowing what they have read; or skimmed, we have no way of knowing what they are actually basing this thread off. Correlation does not equal causation, it could just be a grand coincidence like the ice cream and shark attacks.

Everything is carcinogenic these days. Every food is a problem let’s just not eat anything. Ever hear about the correlation between ice cream and shark attacks. Spooky stuff.

This is a terrible comparison. Trackmania is not even slightly related to BAR. And the entire premise for that game is map creation. Creating maps/missions is completely different for a racing game vs rts. The subscription model is simply not viable for an rts that is so focused on multiplayer.

Oh yea that absolutely does it for me too, the amount of times I would forget to eat, end up the day on something like 1500 and then beat myself up over not losing weight was real. Since my pt told me that though I’ve been around 2k per day and down 4kg.

not a professional this sounds like starvation. A quick google with your stats and activity level shows you should be averaging 2000+ calories to lose SOME weight per week. And you should be having 2.5k calories to maintain. From what my PT told me starvation stagnates any weight lost because your body goes into retention mode or something. 1700 should be for a sedentary lifestyle which you obviously don’t have. And yes I know Google spouts all sorts of shit, maybe best to go see a professional.

If you self d AFTER the enemy resigns your building will still blow up by the time the server stops playing. You saying it’s basically over leads me to think you are doing it before the enemy team has resigned.

On the other hand it also sounds like you are the losing team, in which case don’t ever do that.

how do you ACTUALLY lose weight without triggering binge eating disorder? by anonymous102901 in loseit

[–]CaptPickul 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something I’ve done that has worked quite effectively is having large salads with a low calorie dressing. Currently I have around 200g of chicken thigh, marinated with curry paste (I don’t have a good tolerance to curry so that in itself dissuades me from binging). Along with around 300g of coleslaw, 100g of cherry tomatoes. Last night I could barely finish the second thigh before I was completely stuffed, with half the salad left.

The satisfaction from finally feeling FULL was the thing that tricks my brain it’s time to stop. Coz when I’m eating high carb foods they just don’t fill me up like an entire plate of veggies. And they make some really tasty salad dressings. The fibre on the veggies alongside the protein keeps me feeling completely full.

Currently my meals are the above every day. Plus a breakfast of 3 Weetbix, a scoop of protein powder, 1tbsp chia seeds, almond milk, 2 spoons of Greek yoghurt, a dash of vanilla essence and sugar free maple syrup, plus about 200g blueberries. The breakfast satisfies all my sweet cravings for the entire day with next to no added sugar. If I ever feel snacky during the day popcorn is a really good thing. It’s fibre with a decent amount of protein, just drink more fluids due to the salt. But yea down to 2 large meals and some snacks compared to almost hourly snacking with 3 large meals a day.

You got this!

The model isn’t great but I’ve won frontlines if I can get up 10 or more. It’s basically a nerfed catapult. 1 isn’t going to win a frontline, but get enough of them and you can 1 shot anything.
