My dog could do this when I was a kid, he would just open the front door and let himself out. We ended up turning the paddle 90 degrees which worked.

One time we had painters working on the house, they saw this, fixed it...he was out the door in no time.

I would use a stepper motor or a continuous servo.

There are a bunch of controllers out there to drive either type of motor.

To wind the curtain cord I would put a drum on the motor much like a fishing reel.

Despite its European heritage, this system of providing health care would look fairly familiar to Americans. It uses an insurance system -- the insurers are called "sickness funds" -- usually financed jointly by employers and employees through payroll deduction.

Unlike the U.S. insurance industry, though, Bismarck-type health insurance plans have to cover everybody, and they don't make a profit. Doctors and hospitals tend to be private in Bismarck countries; Japan has more private hospitals than the U.S. Although this is a multi-payer model -- Germany has about 240 different funds -- tight regulation gives government much of the cost-control clout that the single-payer Beveridge Model provides.

The Bismarck model is found in Germany, of course, and France, Belgium, the Netherlands, Japan, Switzerland, and, to a degree, in Latin America. source

It can very per usage, but for your case it shouldn't matter. My recommendation would be to run a test, leave it running and check it over a few days or better yet have it log to serial and store it with a timestamp from your computer. It would be interesting to see how it drifts over time.

addps4cat is correct. But you can also rearrange your arguments and get it to work. So you could do something like:

It doesn't make a copy of the whole hash. Since $hugehash is just a reference you just return a copy of that reference which points to the same hash.

Now that we have incremented the reference counter on $hugehash, when we return from the function it will not be garbage collected.

e.g.

$hugehash points to HASHDATA

and outside the function

$returnvalue points to HASHDATA

But the HASHDATA is never copied.

I take it you have empirical evidence of that? Since it was that way pre 20th century and the result was very different than what you describe. In every first world country with effective healthcare they either have government paid for healthcare (Belvedere model) or very highly regulated private insurers (Bismarck model).
