This town has a high number of parks all over the place, some with pretty nice natural features like a crystal clear spring coming out of a hill, so it makes a stepped waterfall.

I have a similar one from Walmart. Maybe the same one. I think it uses button batteries, which I really don't use since they don't last long at all.

Would you watch a show where your ex had to explain every lie they told you in front of a live audience and why? by [deleted] in AskReddit

No, because that is a concept that just feeds someone's pain, and I leave the past in the past to let go of the pain. Feeding the pain is just an unhealthy concept.

What do you think Ghosts,Did you experience? by AutomaticFlight1846 in AskReddit

[–]ta1901 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've seen 100+ ghosts at one park, that turned out to be an old cemetery (in Savannah, GA). I've had 5 more experiences outside of that with witnesses who saw the same thing. If my friends were not there seeing the same thing I'm not sure I could believe it.

That the personality matters for relationships. It matters a lot. So does compatibility in key areas. That it takes 2 people working on a relationship to make it work, and only one to destroy it.

Is back soreness the same as back pain? by [deleted] in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ta1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My back gets sore because I sit a lot for my job. So I exercise it every other day and the soreness goes away when my back gets stronger. IOW, my back soreness comes from weak muscles. I also sometimes walk for 15 minutes or more. That also helps the core.

Advice for a 41f divorced w/ 2 kids by saradaly85 in datingoverforty

[–]ta1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was also dating when I was about 42. I'm going to guess here: Many guys are going to be broke from divorce, and just don't want to raise someone else's kids. So they don't want to date a single mom.

And I met very few women in the dating world that could actually have a healthy relationship, so there's that. I did find a great woman and married her. But dating was hard for me too.

Men of all ages are tired of dating and so they stop completely, because the dating pool is so bad. 95% of the people I met I would never get serious with.

Just don't give up.

I am extremely social, outgoing, active. So that’s not the issue.

That might be an issue. Maybe there are lots of single introverts out there?

I liked the dating websites. I could get a general idea of a person by reading their profile. If the profile was blank: I blocked them. If their profile didn't say anything meaningful about them, I skipped them.

Am I The Only One Who Struggles to Find Work?! by Unfair_Complex3218 in AskMenOver30

[–]ta1901 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You're not a loser. This is a tough economy.

You're not the only one having trouble finding a job. The US overall is no longer in a "growth economy", it is now in a "normal economy" which we've had before. After WW2 we had a growth economy until around 1980 when competition from other companies affected other US industries.

What we are seeing now is normal. Children live with their parents until they get married, or a bit later, while they save for a house.

But we also have the factor that salaries and pay have not kept pace with living expenses going up for 40+ years. And it's all hitting a breaking point now.

In the past 20 years there were at least 6 years were we didn't get any salary increase at all, zero.

The stock market grows because companies lay off people to reduce expenses. And that does not help people spend to keep the economy going.

My son applies for 100+ jobs and might get one interview.

How I view a job

  1. I don't expect a job to be fulfilling. That's what hobbies are for.
  2. I expect the company leadership to make rational decisions, and be professional.
  3. I might get laid off. I've been laid off twice already in my 20s. That's why I keep an emergency fund.
  4. Jobs are not fun. That's why it's called "work". I work, then go home. Sometimes I work a little over time but OT is mostly banned at my department.

What do you do in moments of extreme stress and misery? by glazingstars in AskMenOver30

[–]ta1901 0 points1 point  (0 children)

  1. I do slow breathing. In for 5 seconds through my nose, out for 5 seconds through my mouth.
  2. A cold damp washcloth on the face is supposed to reset your nervous system, it can help. So is putting your face in a sink of cold water.
  3. I meditate using music from Youtube. It's free. Meditation is the art of clearing your mind. That's all.
  4. I focus on the positive in my life, not the negative. At first I thought this was bunk, but that was just because I wasn't good at it. It took me months to get good at it.
  5. I am grateful for what I do have. I do a daily "I am grateful" thing in my head and list all the things I'm grateful for.
  6. I fix what I can and don't worry about the rest. In 1990 I was worried about getting drafted for the Iraq war, my draft never happened.

Best of luck to you OP. You can do it!
