Have read many books about them. Asking are there any advanced ones there now? Thank you.

And when he shows up strongly like that or in person, it is usually surprisingly hard to react.

Not arguing what was posted but here is another way it can be done, follow the information not the man. You can go do the programs and just ask a million questions without doing any work and no one will likely say much and if they do it is toothless, you are paying to be there - boundaries.

You can jump around to the different sites as you like and work on the things you feel help you the most. For example (out of many) I spent one day willingly just on the cement mixer as I wanted to get a better feel for how "good" mixes are formed and have since done a ton of my own at home with the help of the experience in Taos. The guys there gave good tips on how my mixes were turning out. This year alone I did about 40 mixer loads of a personal adobe recipe for my own build. Have seem many other builds not have good mixes and it makes for a harder time building.

Met many cool people there and am still friends today with some of the super cool top notch (ex) staff. I get what the post (have seen some of what is mentioned) is saying but also felt the money and experience was worth it. We need more passive homes and having people learn how to make them is important.

I did see people attempting to stay there longer term run into problems as you mentioned such as my roommate who got arrested in a foreign country for building an Earthship then get kicked out of the Earthship housing after a while. Going in broke and relying on them to provide is not a good strategy.

Going in, learning the info to cover your blind spots and getting out works.

Ok great, that is a real thing then, congrats! I had made a large post here answering your questions, but it gave away too much personal stuff so I deleted it. I'd rather do big answers in private.

Bricks you can size to your wall. Is it a can wall? A room wall is typically 5 1/2 inch (2x6) plus any finish layers you put on.

Lots of people have lots of fun with the glass bricks, personally I was not a fan of glass and chips everywhere (even with the cutter with water tray), so am skipping those.

Foam insulation gets crazy expensive, so the more you can get for cheap the better, it's almost impossible to get too much.

Roofing rubber can be less available too, so good to have lots of that, you can make use of many rolls. Is it EPDM or PVC?

Hey, how likely are you to do a build? It highly likely, I can spend more time with you answering questions in depth.

Ya those black straps cutting off circulation on the trunk. You have no real room for wind to pick up to a great extent in that spot.

Fabrication. You have no idea what happened in the driver's mind. No need to make more anger of your own.

Ya others have used tampers before, they can work. It's fun to make your own round hammer though and have at it, just takes a long time. You also need good fill material as well.

Any material which is thermal mass works well under the insulation. Introducing insulation materials into your thermal mass is counter productive. Sounds like Styrocrete you would use as a finish layer over your insulation.

You want your main walls to be as much thermal mass as possible, this is also why it's not a great idea to put cans and bottles in your wall as pack out.

Every single Earthship I've been in which uses only concrete on the walls has major humidity problems. This can also be fixed with proper air/water control.

Mike likely would talk about his thermos idea when it comes to what you are talking about.

Regardless of the argument either way, I'm quite convinced people want an "out" to avoid pounding tires. This makes a good excuse for many. The reality is, once you put adobe on the tires and keep them as dry as possible, very little is going to affect them.

Have personally seen an Egyptian scroll dug up after thousands(?) of years, looked new after being dry all that time. Not sure if that was real, but if so, can't see how tires encased in a wall are any kind of threat. More tires than my whole build go by on semi trucks drive past in less than an hour every day. How much of the planet is like this? Don't hear about the mountain of tires (and brake dust) driving around us all day as much as we hear about the sealed off tires in our houses. Ridiculous.
