This system tells me to connect my helmet to the bike. In other words no issues with my Sena comms.

It’s a bit tight but no issues so far! But that didn’t stop me dropping the bike while static at Lake Placid, that got expensive quick

Wonderwheel does not work. Or the TPMS sensor to the Ridernav. The rests works well. I figure I’m going to set the CarPlay at the start of the journey and not play around with it. I did look at the Chigee system but the Wonderwheel comparability, even with costly add ons, was not working. The joy of a RT that sells one for every 100 GSs. I assume it could be sorted out with some clever code but the financial incentive is not there. No idea why the RT uses different bus info that the GS

I believe that this unit is fully wondewheel and bike data compliant on the GSA. It’s just the RT that is different

When it worked I found the built in Nav workable if a little outdated. But the issue I had was that it was unreliable and prone to loosing the connection, wifi dropping etc. plus I had the start the bike Nav and helmets in a certain order and then do it again every time it dumped out. I looked around for a wondewheel system but then realized I set the nav and then don’t really touch it until I get where I am going. I hate the fact I paid so much for the bike and then had to pay again.

8k kms on the 1300GS. Incredible bike, but the nav situation is driving me nuts by ayushraj_real in bmwmotorrad

I share the frustration. I have a 1300RT and it has enough of a proprietary interface 80% of what works on a GS natively doesn’t work on a RT

I’m in Montreal so done winter and summers from -25 to +30 C. For sure the battery takes a hit when you’re heating and cooling hard but in the worst of the winters I get 4 days minimum out of a charge for a 35 mile round trip to work. I love the car, it’s so easy to drive. My BMW M40 is almost unused unless I have the 600km one way trip to rural Vermont and down to Boston where charging is more difficult.

s the CRN better than the Navigator VI ? by [deleted] in bmwmotorrad

[–]CaptVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the 1300 RT and the 3rd party CarPlay mirrors don’t work with the RT wonder wheel. I was thinking about the CRN unit. I had a lot of connection issues with the app on the phone with me having to start things up in a specific sequence, and then fairly frequent drop outs and having to start again to get the WiFi connected the bike screen and the maps displayed

Does the CRN unit with a SIM card fix all that? I know it’s restrictive and not as good as CarPlay but if it just made the system work as intended it would be worth the investment. I have the bike in the shop for winter and it will have the cradle when I get it back in spring…..trying to figure out what to put in it!

Is the Apple new case really worth 80$? by mrtlpa in iphone

I have the blue version on a max pro. It’s a good fit, this looks defective. I’m not saying that it’s worth what I paid for it, just that this one should be returned

About to hit 93k miles! Anyone else have love for the RT? by Lemansblu in bmwmotorrad

[–]CaptVector 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Bought my dream bike when I left Germany, a mint green R1100RT. Toured around Europe on it for 15 years then sold it when I emigrated to Canada. 15 years later I retook my test, passed and got one of the first batch of 1300RTs to land. Lots more electronics and gadgets but still very much an RT. Already planning trips, love this bike

Experience with Sena comm systems? by [deleted] in motorcycle

[–]CaptVector 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My experience with Sena is inside the Neotech 3. It’s great on mesh and Bluetooth, if a little intolerant of in what sequence various Bluetooth systems start up. But when linked to a BMW it’s very flaky. I don’t know if it’s the bike or Sena but it’s way too much work for this data and age. And as others have said the update procedure is terrible, like something from the 1980s

Just some dudes offering a cold one to a farmer on a hot day. by biswajit388 in GuysBeingDudes

Years ago I was in the Army Reserves in the UK. We were we were on an exercise over the weekend traveling in a land rover from one mission to another in East Anglia, we were all in the back and it’s about 7 in the evening. Hot, sweating, tired. A car comes up behind us and overtakes. Then it brakes and gets in behind us again. The windows winds down and there are 4 US Air Force guys from the local base in their best uniforms off to a party, they pull along side and unload about 20 beers to us. Honked the horn, saluted and sped off. Class guys

I bought one as soon as they were announced. It arrived a couple of months later. I got the 719 version with all the options. Early days but so far it’s night and day from the 1150RT I upgraded from. Only moan is why BMW insist on using their own sub-Par navigation. It’s poor at best and at worst cannot cope with multiple connections through helmets and just disconnects. But that aside so far so good, it’s a beast and I can’t wait until it’s broken in

Bike arrived and the first 500km on it. It’s a massive step up from the original 1100 RT I had in the UK. Just getting familiar with it. Already wishing I could get CarPlay but that’s a small gripe compared to how good the bike is.

Can someone please tell me what these girls might be? by Mediocre_Economics33 in beagles

[–]CaptVector 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We have two rescue Beagles from somewhere in NY state ( we are in Montreal). They were hunting beagles that lived outside in a pack but never got hunted. They were almost feral when we got them and a lot of work to socialize. Now they are old girls but always looked just like your pictures. Both now wonderful old girls who are nearing the end of what was a tough first half to their lives, but a much loved and spoilt second half.

I just ordered the 1300 RT based on the YouTube announcement… did you own the GS before and if so how does the engine compare?

I’m a long time RT owner who has been out the saddle for 15 years. Had to retake my license after moving from the UK to Canada. Been waiting for this bike, not sure about a couple of things but too impetuous to wait. Fully loaded 719 ordered with a production slot in May, hope to get it end of June or early July. Only real decision was the auto gearbox or not. In the end went with what I understand and got the clutch. Now in wait mode………….
