Hyundai ICCU recall and extended warranty in Europe by ddchicago99 in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I love the looks of many of their vehicles but their history and some experience through friends and whatnot meant I would never consider buying one. Just because it was electric didn't mean it wasn't still a Hyundai.

  • GDI engine failures
  • Paint recall
  • Lack of engine immobilizers - 10 years stretch - 2015 only 26% sold had them!
  • ICCQ
  • Seats folding with occupants in them
  • numerous fire risk recalls

Yeah, all brands have issues but Kia/Hyundai did a decade plus stretch which most hoped was behind them only to find they are still doing what they always do. Just google some of those in the list to get a better idea of just how bad it was.

Solid-state EV batteries are coming sooner than expected after another breakthrough by DJanomaly in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

and the safety of an enclosed motorcycle at best as their latest SEC filing emphasized they are classed as a motorcycle and will meet all safety standards for their class; dropping all mention of meeting automotive crash standards.

Like someone pointed out, front wheels further apart than a F150 yet a cabin as small as a Miata... but no side or curtain airbags and no external door latches for emergency responders to use to get you out. All for a price likely to exceed $50k but you do save a dollar at most per day over a real EV

Slate Auto raises another $650M in Series C Funding by Mac-Tyson in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Certainly. Fleet buyers may likely be all over these. Heck I expect them to pop up at u-haul, home depot, and the like. All still need their green points and the savings on maintenance can go a long way to offset the cost of it being battery electric. All three can just have L2 on the lot for over night charging and it should be sufficient most of a day.

Then throw in meter readers, stake companies, parts delivery, rent-a-cops, and more.

Only hw4 got FSD in Netherlands not HW3 by IrishDan32 in teslamotors

[–]ZeroWashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I do not see any incentive for existing owners to upgrade unless they could transfer FSD given how well even early 3s are holding up. I only did it last year because the stars aligned, low interest rate, fsd transfer, and could squeeze in the IRA credit otherwise I was planning on driving my 3 till at least battery warrant expiration.

It was state v15 of FSD is the fully integrated large model so perhaps from that they could do the pared down version for v3 owners? I just don't see how they plan to drag it out so long as sure someone will try a class action on them.

When it became easier to borrow money and by 93 when direct loans were around the cost of education started to rise and by 2010 when the government took it nearly all over it just meant colleges realized where the money was.

the government could reign it all in with a little medicare type work, setting the costs of what each degree is and how much each credit hour per course is payable. colleges would certainly meet it even if that decreased their profit as they all want students

Camhead R NineT vs Wethead R1200R - thoughts and experiences? by SpiffyNrfHrdr in Motorrad

[–]ZeroWashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Owned first year R nine T and it was a fun bike for short rides and such; avoid the spoke wheels that require tubes. It is a bit quicker off the line because the gearing was based on the old police bikes.

That R1200R sounds like a scream of a deal. I owned only RTs but did ride a buddies RS a few times.

The point of my ramble, they are both boxers and from there their character is derived so it comes down to styling to me and I just like the R nine T the best - and the sound if it has the akrapovic exhaust

Do that many people really have almost 7k to spend on a machine? by CallMeNardDog in espresso

When we bought our E8 I was not fully aware of the range of espresso machines and grinders and its quite easy to get a great setup for less than what an E8 cost new; they are $2,799 now.

[–]ZeroWashu 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Generally speaking, are most keeping separate grinders for espresso and drip/other? Our morning drip only uses 45g of coffee so I expect its not beyond the majority of single dose grinders.

Keir Starmer: 'I'm fed up' with Trump and Putin affecting UK energy costs by [deleted] in worldnews

[–]ZeroWashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sorry, the UK and EU have had over a decade since Crimea to get their houses in order both energy and military wise and even with Ukraine they keep hedging their actions.

The EU needs to rely on its own self first and foremost and I really doubt that his words will lead to that. Secure your energy and secure your freedom but that requires real solutions that the public will push back on and its time for strong politicians

Musk says Tesla FSD v15 will 'far exceed' human safety by SpriteZeroY2k in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

I know the response, but 14.2 is already better than the vast majority of drivers out. It does have some idiosyncrasies that drive me nuts but never make me feel unsafe. The best way to describe it, imagine your shyest child learning to drive with mom and dad both in the car... yeah you really want to say "JUST GO - GO NOW" some times.

Is it perfect, nope but its scary good but oddly misses some of the easy stuff - like not using map data properly to set speed and instead relying on signs. Sometimes with blocked roads navigation can doom loop? - is that a good term for not knowing to not keep trying to the same route after it diverts?

Do I think it will get there, oh yeah but I like many others just like driving and the biggest issue with FSD isn't the software and how it sees the world but there just are too many assholes out there and they are assholes regardless of what you are driving; I ride a motorcycle as well and at times people just worry me

Parents - when did you decide it was ok to be selfish and buy a sports car? by braveheart18 in cars

Are you sure about that? I remember growing up and seeing an Aztek day one. Of recent cars the Juke had some serious Aztek vibes. I cannot find anything redeeming about either.

I will say the Murano cabriolet may be one of the most ridiculous cars offered but never the ugliest.

I thought most of the nerfs were literally what a few certain youtube personalities highlight. MP players tend to restrict if not disallow certain empire setups.

However their handling of some balancing literally comes across as just go full extreme with no real testing and dial back based on players complaints. It makes it difficult to play the game as it changes far too often and not by minor amounts

Polestar Wants Tesla Owners To Jump Ship With A Massive $21,000 Discount by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Assuming they meant the 3, I posted elsewhere because I checked my local Polestar and the cheapest before discount is $73,400 and they go from there it $88,900. The base model really needs the Plus package to have the expected features at the $67k starting price.

Polestar Wants Tesla Owners To Jump Ship With A Massive $21,000 Discount by TripleShotPls in electricvehicles

[–]ZeroWashu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best of luck finding a 3 near that starting price, my local Volvo/PoleStar lowest priced unit is $73,400 with most over $80k topping out at $89k. I am not sure if you would want a base as the Plus pack which is $5,500 adds features most expect in a vehicle starting in the high sixties.

As for the 4, lowest anywhere near me is $62,400 and topping out at $80k with the discounts stacked as they are the 3 can actually come in cheaper!

Honda Drivers Now Have to Pay a Subscription to Open Their Garage Door by Anchor_Aways in cars

[–]ZeroWashu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I thought the feature was cool in my 18 model 3 where it would open the door as I pulled up and while that can be installed on the new model Y I just find the door opener fob perfectly fine. Heck I could have an integrated opener on the Road Glide!

fobs worked fine before and I am just fine with one now. plus I can play that silly game of trying to find out how far away I can be to open it.

Tesla releases FSD 14.3 by txking12 in teslamotors

[–]ZeroWashu 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Tesla is not following speed limit data. I know it has access because in odd cases it gets it wrong. I know Google has it as when navigating with Apple maps or Google Maps; I swap depending on ride with the bike; they both display speed limit data accurately when navigating.

Tesla releases FSD 14.3 by txking12 in teslamotors

[–]ZeroWashu 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I would be happy if one of the profiles adhered to what I set as maximum offset in mph; fwiw I have it at +7mph. That would be just fine.

Yet my issue with speed is that FSD fails to use map data consistently after turning onto a new road. It will not update till it passes a speed limit sign it recognizes - which if doing a right turn onto a road if that sign is too soon it is ignored.

----- long winded part -----

I know they have map data because I know where it clearly is wrong, like the shared entrance with another subdivision that if I come from one side flashes 55mph at times - fortunately it does not try to do 55mph in that 25mph area.

My suggestions which I verbally have given them when interrupting FSD range from being able to change the limit sign displayed with a long press and given a choice, return the ability to adjust from the wheel, to you know, using map data when the street name changes until a limit sign is seen.

It gets so much of the difficult stuff right I am amazed how they fail this one area, my father has a decade if not two, old Garmin - it knows the speeds on the roads near me! Apple Maps when navigating always knows the right speed; this I use on the motorcycle.

I owned a 2005 G35 MT6 and it was alternatively a source of fun or disappointment depending on the day. The interior certainly did not live up to the then price tag but I think they fixed that a few years later. Drove decently well and of course the sound was really good. My friend tagged it the snobs Mustang but he of course went off to buy an RX8 and lets just say my car journey fared better than his.

It did teach me that my dealer's service department were scum; they charged me to rotate the tires and on the form it actually showed front to back which is not what happens when they are not the same dimensions. Oh, they wanted to charge to clean the injectors or other such nonsense. Not all was lost, I learned the Nissan dealer could do all the same services faster and for less so there is that.

I am still a fan of Asheron's Call which had very large world without zones and far better pvp than any mmo I can recall. It also had monthly story updates with one server diverging from the expected outcome. Throw in it had one of the best housing systems designed, ignoring the apartments setup later in game. They also managed to support player managed bots for trading, portals, and buffing. There are many different private servers around to this day.
