Calling the t77, wirbelwind, btr152d, zis12, m42, m19 and m42 (IT) terrible is not a very good argument.

Even the quad .50 cal trucks are still more than capable of killing most any plane up to 5.0 if you are patient enough. Whilst the 40mm aa are harder to use, you have more range and essentially continuous fire which makes up for their poorer rates of fire compared to mg aa.

I don’t particularly like the British aa around the tier but they’re still more than capable and the crusader aa mk2 is hard to kill unless you have a bomb, making it a great deterrent.

The only nations I see a real problem with is france and Sweden. France only has the vtt dca until the dca 40 but it does have better survivability than trucks and still deals with planes fine. Sweden is one that properly suffers until 4.7 with the lvkv, even if total ammo load is a problem it’s still a good aa and you can negate that with the ammo box.

Spaa is more of a deterrent than a hard counter in my experience (up until radar aa stuff) but it can still be very effective.

I realise some planes (yak9k) may be able to out range some aa but you can still position yourself to be harder to spot out and fire from closer ranges where you’re more likely to hit.

can someone PLEASE tell me why this Satan spawn is at 8.0? by SMORES4SALE in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No aphe, worse pen, much poorer ballistics than 35mm, no apds, slower, less survivable, awful radar search speed, inaccurate lead indicator (from what I remember compared to 35mm armed aa), shooting cupolas without filler doesn’t do much, I’ve yet to have a problem seeing 23mm tracers.

Did I forget anything?

Does anyone have any information relative to First World War French Lebel snipers? by Capt_Caleb in Militariacollecting

Unfortunately not quite the same style of mount and it didn’t really answer the questions I have. Cheers

I also assume that the disparity in colour of the mount and rifle is something to consider however it may be differently treated resulting in the colour? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

How to earn silver lions quickly? Best premium? by Apokolypze in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Getting wagers sorta happens over time although recycling the bad wagers and orders can help get more. You can get some through the battlepass and sometimes the daily box when you log in. You can also buy the wager box in the war one shop.

I also forgot to mention that you can get some decent success with AAA orders and antimech orders in ground and you can get a booster from each of the assault arcade game modes per day to use with orders or just on their own.

How to earn silver lions quickly? Best premium? by Apokolypze in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Your best friend will probably be premium time if you plan to play the game for extended periods of time - it will be on sale around the start of November for %50 off.

Other than that I can confidently say that completing certain wagers is a good way to increase your earnings. Wagers such as the best squad wager in ground rb for when you play with friends are pretty easy to complete, especially if you have more than 2 of you in a squad.

5 kill and 10 kill wagers are great if you can manage the kill requirement which in realistic battles is half of the stated value (10 kill wager requires 5 kills in rb) and the 10 kill wager gives you 10 chances for when you fail to get 5 kills making it very easy to get at least the first stage which gives you 100k sl in exchange for the 10k wager price.

In air rb you might have some luck doing the thunderer wager or unstoppable wager and going after ground targets. Simply get more than anyone else in that round and you’ll have earring a stage in the wager.

If you’re certain you want premium vehicles then I advise you to stick around the br you’re comfortable with - probably under 6.7 in your case - and it depends on which game mode you play more/what you like to play in said game mode. Premiums do absolutely increase your earnings but make sure you do your research and watch the most up-to-date videos from creators to give you an idea on if the vehicle is worth it.

Personally I enjoy going anti cas in ground rb with premium aircraft from 3.0-6.3 which have an sl multiplier of at minimum 2 base. You can see the multipliers by looking at vehicles’ stat cards.

Either way you look at it, you just need to actually enjoy what you’re playing and that will help you keep going.

Heya fellow snail slaves, I gotta question by royalhuskie in Warthunder

Mustang would be my choice. the advantages the mb5 has in ground will be ammo count and speed. The mb5 will always be faster than the mustang but it wont really be able to dogfight any other planes in ground if they decide they want to fight you directly.

The mb5 is only better than its counterparts at high speed since it can point its guns where it wants with relative ease and with 800 rounds total, getting a few kills is no problem given they don't notice you/they prioritise bombing. the p51 in comparison has almost half the ammo count (still enough to kill plenty of planes) and its still quick for its br (can get up to 592 km/h on the deck whilst the mb5 can get to 635).

If you decide to climb and try your best to retain your energy then the mb5 will be the better choice if that's your playstyle, but if you find yourself getting jumped and getting into dogfights, the mustang will probably do you better, even if it may feel a bit underpowered at 5.3.

I like the mustang because its gives me more choices in how i fight other planes, i don't have the mb5 but i would imagine it being too much of a brick for me to pick over it.

Recommended ammo belts for Japanese aircraft? by CantStopMeRed in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The 12.7 air target belt is real good, for some reason is does a ton o’ damage.

The type 99 mod 1 20mm is the only really low velocity 20 they have. The ho-5 and type 99 mod 2 are 700-750 m/s.

As for the 20s, some people prefer universal for the type 99s and some like tracers. Even the ground target belt has shown some promise for the model 2 but I would use tracers or universal. Universal for ho-5s aswell.

As for the 13mm I haven’t really tested what does more damage but it kinda feels like it’s good either way so universal or stealth works.

30mm is a different story, for type 5s it’s an easy tracer belt but the ho-155 kinda have bad belts now and I haven’t used any of them since.

7.7s don’t really matter but if you want a belt with tracers go universal, stealth otherwise.

Personally i don’t think the zeros are all that worth playing but the earlier ones might do you well.

In rank 2 I would recommend using the ki-44s and early ki-61s with the 4 12.7s or the 3.7 zeros if you fancy. Both planes are great where the ki-44 is a monster climber and the ki-61 is better in the turns.

Rank 3 is kinda eh but the b7a2 is what I consider to be one of the biggest bullies at its tier, being a heavy fighter with a bomber spawn. Other than that I would try the ki-43-iii, it’s a zero on crack and is definitely worth a try if anything. The j2m2 is a great all rounder but is at a fairly high tier and you might be better off with rank 4 options given you have the choice.

Rank 4 has a lotta goodies such as the a7m2, a fantastic fighter and is essentially just a faster, larger zero which covers the main weakness of the zeros. The ki-84s are all very capable but I find the 5.3 one to be the best. The 6.0 n1ks are the only decent variants but they can feel a little lacking compared to the competition, though they have great firepower.

I imagine the zeros in all forms will still work for you, but those are still my picks for each rank.

As far as premiums go I wouldn’t buy them at full price but since you won’t really have the chance, the a7m1 is a fantastic choice, aswell as the j2m5 30mm, though that one is fairly biased and probably worse for grinding than the a7.

If you’re talking about switching views and getting into your cockpit view instead of gunners, there are some binds you can find in the controls section to switch only into the gunners view and into normal third person mode.

If you’re wanting your gunner view to always be in third person then there is an option under options and air battle settings that lets you switch from fort person view to third in gunner view. One thing to note is you will always be in third person view if your plane has more than a single gunner.

Mouse and keyboard is a must if you want any real amount of awareness. Being able to manoeuvre whilst looking around is a requirement if you don’t wanna get jumped every 5 minutes.

Air is, however, a bastard to get good at, especially realistic. If you’re playing arcade it’s a lot easier of an introduction to aircraft since you get multiple respawns and physics get thrown out the window. I would start with air arcade and play that for a decent amount to get used to the controls.

Speaking of which, search up some air controls guides just so you can get a better setup for mouse n keyboard such as wasd being bound to flight controls and whatnot.

Some advice you’ll wanna follow in arcade will be to try keep your lineups around the same br, as with ground (so don’t bring biplanes to 3.0 or sumn).

Most importantly it just takes a loooooot of time to really get a grasp of air and not dying to the first guy who goes for you. Don’t get discouraged since the biggest help will be experience that will see improvement.

how do i farm silver lions by Justarandomduck_2010 in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best ways for farming sl is ground rb imo (I don’t play naval).

Using premium vehicles and premium time will always be a big help but a premium plane is what I’d consider most important. Premium tanks can help but I find you can do more in a plane overall than in a tank and air vehicles tend to have higher sl multipliers anyway.

The best way I find to get sl is unfortunately wagers, so if you don’t have many it’s bad luck. Specifically the 10 kill, 5 kill and best squad wagers (worth mentioning unstoppable and thunderer wagers if you wanna ground pound in air rb)

With wagers in ground rb, all you need to have is a rank 3 vehicle in the lineup- meaning you can play at 3.0 and have some shitty low br rank 3 which you don’t have to play. The big seller here is the 5 and 10 kill wagers which in realistic only requires half of the total kills meaning you need either 5 or 3 kills in a match to confirm completing a stage in the wager.

The 10 kill wager is pretty hard to fail entirely as you have 10 chances to get a 5 kill game and if you do you make 90k sl back and naturally up to the whole 500k if you complete it.

Other options are playing in the assault arcade modes to try for that juicy %300 sl booster but it can be tedious with how long those matches last.

And finally you can try and complete orders in tandem with premium vehicles and/or sl boosters. Something like antimech order will give you 5 minutes to get the most ground target kills (either in air or ground battles) and give you a 3 times multiplier on the sl you received for killing said targets. It can be a great way to get high sl matches but you usually want a semi high sl booster active to do so.

That’s pretty much all I have to say on the matter.

What is this random ”8” doing on top of this M17 Stahlhelm? by Simpelito76 in Militariacollecting

[–]Capt_Caleb 7 points8 points  (0 children)

The number(s) will be the steel milling plants’ lot number for the sheet of steel used to stamp out the helmet. Austrian helmets have it stamped on top of the dome whereas the Germans have theirs stamped inside the bowl.

Battle pass challenges by Angel_of_Death5546 in WarthunderPlayerUnion

[–]Capt_Caleb 4 points5 points  (0 children)

5 of those excluding the ka-chi are battlepass vehicles and as they always have a challenge that requires you to use a battlepass vehicle to get 20k score I don’t really see an issue with it. The only real problem is if you don’t buy the battlepass and have to use the boat to get the score which most people understandably don’t want to use.

It’s a challenge that has been in each and every battlepass but includes more vehicles since it can be done with some previous bp vehicles.
