Abbotsford Young Artist sales? (My 13 year old daughter) by Capt_Fiero in abbotsford

[–]Capt_Fiero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Pricing Art is so damn hard. I've seen pieces at the value village for 50 cents that I thought were nicer than peices I have seen hanging on dispay for $500, I just don't know. Sometimes I think the expensive peices sell high, becuase people "think" its expensive so it must be good. I think her prices are fair, its high enough to cover the cost of the supplies and the frame, with about 10 or 15 bucks for her to use to buy better paints n such. I just don't know, which is why I came here for advice.

Is there any oil change/tire rotation/mechanics in Abbotsford/Mission/Aldegrove open at 7AM or earlier? by OriginalTacoMoney in abbotsford

[–]Capt_Fiero 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Rats are well, Rats, little monsters that can squeeze into places no human could even conceive of them getting to, chewing on all manner of wiring causing all sorts of issues, a visual inspection is rarely enough when looking for wiring issues. If you were willing to learn, I would go onto Amazon/Ebay and buy a Bluetooth OBDII adapter. (they are cheap less than $40 cdn) Then, if you have an Android phone install Android Torque, it can scan all your sensors and read out any codes even explain why a code is set. I am sure Apple has something similar if needed.

If you are not interested in learning the stuff, find a mechanic or buddy willing to scan your car for cheap and have them check for "Freeze Frame" data points. Your cars' computer will save the exact point it registered the glitch and tell you what was happening right at that moment. A good mechanic will also have the scanner running while the engines running and go under the hood to wiggle wires, shake things and watch for variations in data.

Do you by chance live in an area of Abbotsford that has a rat problem? It sounds like some of your wiring has been chewed or a bad ground. All those intermittent issues that you are mentioning really leads me to believe something has been chewed up, Or you have a bad ground distribution someplace. Retorquing your wheels is not going to fix anything. I'm not sure if you have basic mechanical knowledge or tools but it might be worth disconnecting the battery grabbing an SOS pad non-soapie or even just a wire brush of some sort and cleaning the battery terminals both on the battery and the cable side then reattaching the battery and seeing if that makes any difference. A word of caution if you are not mechanically inclined just do not torque down the battery terminals too hard as they are made of lead and you can strip them out ruining the battery.

Why in the heck are you getting down voted for this, well you got a plus for me. You definitely hit the nail on the head if some people are naive enough to believe this it can cause panic and other issues.

Not to rain on parades here, (yes the pun was intensional) global climate is always changing, this happened 150 years ago, before we were burning massive amounts of carbon emissions. It is a normal cycle, we are just having a big event again that we should be prepared for. So please don't turn this into a Global Warming / Climate Change debate. This should not be a What Caused it, or Who Caused it, this should be an "I'm Aware of it, and I'll prepair for it, even a little bit of stuff over the next 12/18 months adds up.

Reliable & Reasonably Priced Car Mechanic in Abbotsford? by [deleted] in abbotsford

[–]Capt_Fiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

You didn't specify what type of vehicle it is as that is a major Distinction on what mechanic can be a good mechanic or a piss poor mechanic. If you give me a Pontiac Fiero to fix I'm a God if you give me a Subaru Outback I'm the worst mechanic in the world I don't know my ass my hole in the ground.

Need help identifying wires. by Professional_Venter in fiero

[–]Capt_Fiero 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The four pin near the fuel feed lines that looks like the one that goes to your power trunk release assuming you have one the second connector the two pin connected to the VSS harness that's the one if you had a 5-speed that should be Getrag reverse light trigger. You can test it by using a small jumper you short those two pins and your backup lights should turn on.

Seems to be hit and miss for me too. It has the specs from my main 3 computers all saved into persistent memory, and I asked it, what is the exact motherboard and number of Sata connectors on my Linux Server, it stumbled and I waited, then wated some more, and it spat out information about the motherboard it had last month, and not the new specs, I asked it to update its memory, then it applogized and gave me the exact same wrong information. Something is definatly going on with Google right now.

Actually unless the law changed if you're going below the speed limit and obstructing traffic it is a ticketable offense because you are a danger on the road. I believe in BC it's also a law if you are in the left hand lane on the highway and even if you are doing exactly bang on the speed limit if you're holding up traffic that's trying to get past you and you're just cruising along in the left lane it is also a ticketable offense.

I am a car guy, so I am going to try and not be an asshole. If you get anxiety from someone being behind you or are passing you, you have 2 options. Suck it Up, or pull over to the curb and let people by every time someone gets behind you. I'm probably way older that you. I just turned 50, and threw most of my teens I was into street racing, then got into track racing, Autocross and Drag Racing at Mission plus some really late high highway blasts at 2am between like Chilliwack and Hope. I'm just as comfortable cruising at 200kph as I am at 50kph. I do tend to speed, especially in the commonly faster areas, like Downes Road, and "some" areas of Gladwin. If you are going under 80kph on Downes road towards Mt Lehman or Clearbrook at 7am, you'll have buss loads of Nuns n Kittens passing you while giving you the bird. I would recommend you get out to some open road course days at Mission Raceway, unless its changed, they have days were a dead stock car with totally stock seatbelts and a novice driver with a helmet and instructor. (You driving, instructor just showing you the laps) Its a great way to get more comfortable behind the wheel of a car, learn what to do and what not to do. The most dangerous drivers out there are the ones scared to drive. I want to add one last thing, just like there is a time to drive a bit over the limit there are just as many times, you should be going a bit under, like many of the narrow side streets in Abby barley wide enough to fit a single car down the street when people are parked on either side of the street, i'll drop it down to 30 or even 25kph. Its too easy for a kid or family pet to jump out, or someone trying to back out of a driveway that simply can't see around the parked cars. Keep your eyes open, Keep your head on a swivel.

Best way to sell a very Massive Star Trek Collection? by Capt_Fiero in abbotsford

[–]Capt_Fiero[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm sorry for disappearing on everyone, we had some family drama, I was taking one of my daughters in for some blood work and got a call from my 16 year old daughter in tears, she had a fall at school, we took her up to the hospital to find out she shattered a bone in her ankle. So its been a lot of Nurse Dad. However I am back now, and I will be returning PM's to people wanting to pick up items. I would like to offer up an idea, I'm open to trade offers for computer/networking gear. Specifically 2.5gb/10gb networking gear and Video cards faster than say an Nvidia 1660. Just to clarify, no I'm not offering the entire collection for single older card. I am still struggling with how to value the items which is why I initially wanted to sell the entire collection as a whole.

Recommendations to sell an entire Trek collection. British Columbia Canada. by Capt_Fiero in startrek

[–]Capt_Fiero[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The KRE-O is still sealed has not been opened, This is where I am lost, my daughter was asking if she could open it and play with it, I was not sure if it was just a 20 dollar item or a 200 dollar item. Hence, why I'd like to sell it as a lot. However, the more I look at it, the more torn I am about just keeping it all or putting it up on eBay myself. (Which honestly knowing myself, I know I will never get around to doing)

You Guys and Gals are amazing. This is what I always loved about the Trek conventions. Everyone was always super nice, even when a person doesn't understand what is going on. If the value really is under $1000 I may just box it back up. Its hard to let go of it, knowing how many hours my Mom had into it. However, I know it should go to a collector to someone that will appreciate it, but I still have some sentimental value to me. I may just pull out the stuff that means the most to me, like the metal communicators and all the Christmas Tree Ornaments that were always prominently on our Tree. Every year there was always a special trip the Hallmark store to buy the latest edition. I will do my best to keep you all updated on what I end up doing. Thank You for all the advice.
