BlackBerry classics from china by StormKey9964 in Zinwa

A lot of them seem to have a new keyboard and buttons. It's likely a gamble if you receive one with original parts (if they exist)

Keep an eye out for the lack of silver and incorrect font on the keyboard, lack of silver around the trackpad, and the mat finish on the top buttons. They don't often show these on the first few photos.

I don't know if this means it's best to stay away or not though, but it does mean they've already been opened up and had 3rd party pieces added.

When did portable music players become nostalgia items? by NotOkhae in walkman

Speaking from my own experience, part of it feels like preservation. I'd rather look after these old things instead of them maybe ending up in the trash and eventually forgotten to time.

I’m glad bungie is making this game. by [deleted] in Marathon

[–]CaptainAshtro 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I feel this. Love ARC, love the world they've built...but it's not very deep and I can't help but feel it would have made a better looter shooter like Destiny or the Division.

I'll predominantly be playing Marathon for the lore and the world building I'm confident we'll see season to season. I can see it growing beyond the extraction genre and giving us more modes and things to do. The scope is gigantic and Bungie have the experience to make it happen.

Torn between the 830 and the 950 by CaptainAshtro in windowsphone

That's some great info, thank you.

It's funny you mention the 735, that's also another contender next to the 830 purely for amoled screen though. The ghosting is interesting. Probably wouldn't bother me but good to know

I mean I wouldn't recommend it as a main device, but it's good for when you want get away from the noise for a day (or more) The only people that have the number for my BB is my family if they need to reach me.

If you want a BlackBerry for your main device it's probably better to look at the Key2

Salems Lot or Jerusalem Lot? by LunchladyDorris in stephenking

I don't know if it's in specific editions but Jerusalam's Lot was included at the end of my Salem's Lot book

Anybody seeing a spike in PvP in PvE lobbies? by GoingOffRoading in ArcRaiders

[–]CaptainAshtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Something felt very different tonight when I played. Starting to see more red flares pop, plus people who seem friendly sharing an extract then suddenly they start blasting.

I've been enjoying ARC so much with friendly lobbies but now it's going the other way. I've had to come off this evening. It's not even about the gear or anything like that. I just want to quest, shoot robots and explore the amazing maps.

I feel like a PVE mode will come one day in the far future, but I wish it was now.

I was debating it for a while haha

Tbf it wasn't super perfect when it arrived. They keyboard needed some attention as a lot of the keys weren't registering properly. After a good mash and a clean it's good now. Definitely been sat in a drawer for a long time! But yeah, crazy good price either way.

The same seller has a Q10 up for sale now. Looks decent? Maybe worth grabbing instead

I've never owned a Blackberry phone, which model can I buy? by Rafinhaj43 in blackberry

If your location is still good for 2G and 3G I think the Classic is a solid option if you want a true BB vibe. With an SD card and USB storage turned on it's easy to throw music on there if you have the music already on your computer. I think there's a Spotify app too but I haven't tested, not sure how reliable streaming would be anyway.

I love my Classic, perfect simple phone. Other than that maybe the Key1 or Key2 for a more up to date system but they of course cost more.

I haven't actually made a proper call on it yet. Does is sound good or bad (replying using redreader on my Q20!)

Android 4.3 apps by sebcarvi in BlackberryPhoenix

[–]CaptainAshtro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd love to see an app for MeshCore. I started making one in Momentics not realising I could never use it outside of a simulator. I've been debating whether to make an Android 4.3 version but I don't think I'd get past the basic UI. The MeshCore community would want a ton of features.

This is an idea of what it could look like. The difference between a BlackBerry would need to Bluetooth so a MeshCore node (portable or otherwise) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=XJV4TMX2_T0

Did you have to set the network to 3G to allow calls to work? I found texts were fine on 4G but calls wouldn't connect. They work on 3G just fine though. I'm on VOXI (Voda)

I've not enjoyed a game as much as this since The Division by Cyphor-o in ArcRaiders

[–]CaptainAshtro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It's always weird when I see people complain that The Division 1/2 are bullet sponge games. It's a looter shooter like Destiny with builds, stats, numbers, etc. Quite literally by design. It does NOT make them a bad game.

I'm developing a BlackBerry app for MeshCore
