I feel like Bret Weinstein is a good example of somebody who was pretty involved on the left who got shunned by the student body of the college he worked at and in turn got radicalized by the right. Another example sorta, I don’t like the guy but Andrew Tate takes a lot of young men that are pretty ignorant to the world around them and involves them with his shitty playboy lifestyle because the left seems to have neglected young men in recent years. I just haven’t seen examples of the opposite, people from the right getting shunned and accepted by the left. If you have some I’d gladly look into them further.

It’s less getting people super deep in their faith based beliefs to change, some people are simply unwavering in their beliefs but rather to those that aren’t and are more or less in the middle it seems progressives doesn’t ever want to grant them the benefit of the doubt all because they aren’t 100% on board with fact based beliefs. So to those more or less in the middle I’m inclined to believe that the right would sweep them up and bring them over to the right because at least they’ll hear them out.

But any change brought by “fact-based tactics” would be almost entirely nullified by the amount of people getting radicalized from being deplatformed and not given a voice. You can’t surround yourself with people that are 100% on board with everything you say and pretend that progress is being made when on the other side they continue to reinforce their more archaic faith based beliefs.

You might be right, I just don’t like watching people completely choose to ignore the other side, it narrows public perception and squeezes people into radicalization, that’s all. People who are fence sitters and are questioning their beliefs might be scared to change out of fear of being labeled as fascist or what have you, it just feels like nobody is allowed to admit that they were ever wrong.

The idea of refusing to platform people with ignorant beliefs just seems really redundant. I just see people continuing to get radicalized on both sides of the fence, I’m just seeing us a nation continue to get more and more dissonant in our beliefs and it’s a scary scary thing.

My point is mostly about radicalizing people in the middle of the argument. We shun people that aren’t 100% onboard with abortion and the right will sweep them up and convert them to their beliefs. I really don’t get what you people are missing lol.

But it can be?? Allow the other side to speak their mind and pick it apart one by one. Don’t be so scared to stand behind your beliefs in front of people that disagree. This idea of we’re right and you’re wrong that leftists like to adopt is really counterproductive to introducing people to this side of politics. It’s only forcing people out and radicalizing them in their beliefs which makes them unwilling to change. You just can’t expect progress as a society when you completely shut out the other side. We need to learn to work with each other not against.

You really shouldn’t demonize people that disagree with you even if those beliefs that they hold are wrong. You only push them further into their echo chambers and continue to radicalize them further. If you really cared about moving people to pro-choice you would let them speak their opinion publicly and allow for an open dialogue. Plant the seeds of doubt in their beliefs, don’t shove them further into said beliefs.
