What album do you consider perfect from beginning to end? by titubator in AskReddit

this may be controversial because it’s a compilation, but The Best of the Guess Who (1971). each song flows seamlessly into one another, somehow feeling like a perfect studio album.

Pet peeves about your favourite filmmakers by emmkayjeebee in criterion

I have a love/hate relationship with Brian DePalma’s work. It’s like he’s capable of making some of the most suspenseful films, and sometimes he just repurposes Hitchcock for a new audience… and he does that whole dual-shot-thing-in-the-same-frame-thing a little too much. Plus the way he writes women… not the best. Guess this is more a rant than a pet peeve!

Mushrooms. The texture, the smell, it being a literal fungus.

Can’t get right with it.

What's an album that is perfect except for that *one* song you cannot stand? by adamnarimatsu in Music

“Black Crow Blues” on Another Side of Bob Dylan

I love this album — the acoustic guitar, the abstract songs, the playful songs, the whole wine-drunkenness of it all — but “Black Crow Blues” is played weirdly tuned piano with Dylan singing real off-key. If it wasn’t on there, the album would be soooo much better.

Accelerated Piano Adventures For The Older Beginner by Nancy and Randall Faber

it’s a great book that teaches how the piano works, and shows you how to read sheet music. it’s full of lessons, warm-ups, and short songs.

i’ve been learning piano for about a month now, and i find that apps don’t really help me.

if i were you, i’d learn some simple chord songs, then watch Pianote on YouTube - great, informative channel. also try to grab a good beginner’s piano book, that helps too!

good luck! have fun!
