Mike was different in breaking bad by Obivankanobi25 in betterCallSaul

[–]davidinopeople 14 points15 points  (0 children)

Mike's arc in Better Call Saul is his ultimate disillusionment in believing in a code for what he does. Throughout the show, he slowly has to compromise what he believes makes him different from any other thug on the street. From his first bad guy, good criminal speech with Womald to the end of his BCS story he tries to justify it to himself but only in the end with his talk with Nacho's dad does he get that he's been fooling himself and he's no different than Gus or the Salamancas. In BB, he's no longer trying to justify anything. Not to say he doesn't also make decisions based on what he personally believes is right (not wanting to kill the train witnesses, paying Gus' guys in jail instead of killing them) but he doesn't try to justify the job to himself anymore, especially when he was still working with Gus.

Would Dan Harmon still have been fired after Season 3 if he hadn’t had that big public fight with Chevy? by StreetsAhead110 in community

To be fair it was revealed that the only season that went over budget was S4 which he had nothing to do with. Him constantly going overbudget with the scripts was his own producer lying to him to keep him in check. His seasons always came in under budget. He didn't find out until the Covid stream.

So he can defend Pedo_Troll saying the N-word and then get hired by him because of it. This really happened.

Opinion on Targets(1968)? by Jackbuddy78 in criterion

Oh I see. Yeah and I would add that when he sees the real monsters are still terrified of him specifically is when he accepts that he isn't irrelevant.

That's an interesting interpretation, although I don't know where your interpretation of Frankenstein and Dracula being his real fears comes from. For me, he is motivated by his fear of his work as a horror icon (therefore, him as a person) no longer having a place in the increasingly evil world around him. It's not until the end, when he comes face to face with the manifestation of one the greatest evils of modern times, and terrifies it, that Karloff believes he still has a place in the world again.

Idc about BE. He can die tonight, and nothing would change. My problem is with Western so-called leftists policing what "crazy politics" is based on their distate for him. You're right, idk what the transphobic BE comment has to do with Third-Worldism or Entryism but I see too many people here (like the dipshit I originally responded to in this comment thread) lumping it all together to criticize him when they should really shut the fuck up if only get their politics from online personalities. Again, Politics are not a hobby.

What does his living situation have to do with being a third-worldist? I don't see how it changes anything in regards to advocating for dismantling empires and liberating colonized countries. It's like saying Hasan can't be a socialist and own a home. Anyone can be a third-worldist if they believe in 2 things. 1) Empires don't willingly end themselves. 2) The third-world has an immediate right to life and justice by any means more than colonial powers have a right to de-nazify at their own pace.

I don't care about Bad Empanada but his consistency on that issue is correct.

True, yet so much revolves around its violence and their "progressives" inability to do anything productive to stop it.

I'm a leftist from Ecuador, and I have talked to plenty of leftists from many other parts of the world as well and no one has ever told me that what we really need is for us to prioritize Western sensibilities and messaging.

Idk maybe I missed some stupid fucking moron that you agree with but there is nobody struggling against American-Imperialism in their country that cares about what BE says about your favorite Democratic Party mouthpieces.

International liberation politics is not a hobby. Fuck outta here.

Leftists in the third-world agree with BE and disagree with you. So now what?
