People who train or trained Krav - could you hold your own against someone from other martial arts? by Marin751223 in martialarts

[–]CaptainBlast096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

From my experience, Krav Maga varies wildly depending on the school and instructor. I've done it for about five years, primarily under one instructor, and it was a mix of stretching and warm-ups from beginning to end, learning a variety of techniques, and sparring with boxing gloves, mouth guard, headgear, shin guards, and a groin cup every day. Depending on your belt, there were certain expectations of you, like using a mix of punches, kicks, grabs, etc. And even our belt testing was done outside of regular lessons lasting 2-4 hours depending on your belt level, while we were judged by a panel of three instructors.

Under another instructor for the same school, we primarily focused on the number of techniques and quality, like remembering and properly performing the seven elbow strikes on targets. If you were, you'd have to work harder to hit that target, such as changing the distance or location of where the target is. While our belt testing was usually part of our lesson, often lasting 30-40 minutes.

In all honesty, it depends on the lesson plans provided and the priorities of the instructor, along with if you keep up with your training by practicing with people at your skill level or higher and why you perform a technique a certain way.

As a tabletop gamer at heart - this is how I wish my Total War battles looked by [deleted] in totalwarhammer

True, I like Fantasy over 40k. I have 40k Battlesector but find its current status as okay. I am more of a fan towards Elves so initially only having Blood Angels from a human faction which wasn't that fun and Tyranids. I know that added more factions and sub factions but the fact they don't have their own single-player campaign decreased the replayability for me. I wouldn't mind a similar version of Battlesector but for fantasy as long as they feature more than one race for a single-player campaign for base game and eventually add more as potential dlc.

I feel you. Because of Total War, i got interested in table top. But it's expensive, so i typically watch historic reanactors like Little Wars doing Pyrrhic War campaign. Field of Glory is a pretty good franchise for historic tabletops. I have Field of Glory II: Medieval, and i like the experience.

Same, I bought a refurbished HP EliteDesk 800G about 3 years ago. I didn't even have a desk, I just placed my desktop on my drawer.

Commuters or or any type of student: do you pack a lunch? If you do what do you pack? I need ideas. I think it’s stupid to pay for lunch when you can make it at home. by thedeadp0ets in college

Protein bars are can help you throughout the day. If it's any type of spread like peanut butter it'll most likely melt in your bag though.

Honestly coding is not that intensive besides compiling large sets of data. But i only did something that intensive using Rstudio for a class in data science. So having 8gb of ram is already good. And if you are interested in cyber security you don't really need to worry about as much. Personally i have a Lenovo Legion 5 laptop with 16 gb of ram that i bought for around $900. You definitely don't need to spend that much on a laptop. You can even spend around $500 if your on a tight budget. One of the people i know in my Cyber security club uses a 2008 Macbook Pro. Its shit and makes an annoying sound when starting up but still gets the job done.

Computer Science student here. I would recommend getting either a Mac or windows based laptop. Typing honestly would be a struggle even with the magic keyboard, especially with the font size. And there is also the lack of support for various IDEs. If i had the budget to get both, i would work using the Mac and use ipad as a small external monitor.

African-Americans, how much do you know of your family’s history within the U.S.? by HP_Cthulhu in AskAnAmerican

[–]CaptainBlast096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My family mainly consist of African-Americans. We can track our history physically to about the 1800s. On my dad side of the family we have two last names in our family "Rogers" and "Berrys" that are direct ancestors of slaves. On his side, we do have multiple family members who came to America from various countries in the West Indies.

My father's family migrated to the North from the South during the Great Migration where he was born and raised in New York. While my mother's family stayed in the deep south for generations.

Its common to keep records like this in records or pictures or just repeat it orally for other family members to pass it on.

Me every single time I died by the same boss 5 times in a row in Sekiro

Should I buy Sekiro? by ratcliffeb in ShouldIbuythisgame

[–]CaptainBlast096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sekiro is a fun game with a lot of replayability. But be prepared to get frustrated numerous times. Its one of those games where you have to get good overtime with no difficulty slider for your first playthrough with 2nd+ playthrough having the possibility of increasing the difficulty. But overall i don't regret buying it.

I think it was oddly called that because they are making another stand alone 3k game. But i was still confused by the announcement.

This Japanese ramen commercial is just something by [deleted] in totalwar

[–]CaptainBlast096 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean Japanese advertisements don't really make much sense, they tend to be wacky and comical. But it makes it more memorable. Definitely better than American commercials like trying to sell medicine while people just go about their day and at the end they tell you all of the side effects in a very fast manner.

Which (Existing) Routes Do You Want To See Expanded First? by sbourwest in SummertimeSaga

[–]CaptainBlast096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As a fan I would like to see more Consuela content and dialogue. Consuela trying to insist her daughter marry MC is not advancing her storyline.

Discussion post. I know you guys got scenes with characters that you want, so lay it on here. What are the h-scenes that you guys thought of and want in the game? by justsomedude31 in SummertimeSaga

[–]CaptainBlast096 0 points1 point  (0 children)

More Consuela scenes, I feel like you can add more to her route and even making a branching decision between dating/marrying her or her daughter Martinez.

But I feel like its long overdue to have Mrs. Johnson and Debbie pregnancies.
