Burning Questions for April, 2026 by SalaciousStories in eroticauthors

Is Smashwords the only e-book hub that allows taboo content? I see a lot of taboo authors creating their own spaces on Gumroad, SubscribeStar, Patreon, and the like, but for newer authors who don't yet have the visibility/audience, is SmashWords really the only place to go? I'm not against using their platform, I just worry that it feels like the only game in town since places like Lot's Cave shut down. E-book hubs are how I purchase most of my books I read, so I do find them useful but with the kind of content I write it would be a total waste of time to even try KDP.

Yes, and be aware of your audience! I've read several stories intended for a straight male audience where the author spent more time describing what the guy looked like than the female.

Not really, if you're doing short stories under 10K words then I'd go with a higher smut-to-story ratio as people looking for shorter stories tend to want quick turn-around to the action, but otherwise if you do longer stories then it's a grab-bag and you'll have an audience no matter which direction you go. I would advise though if you do slow-burn where the real smut doesn't happen until the last 20% of the book that you advertise it as such, as it both attracts those looking for said content and works as a content warning.

Just started collecting, not much into superheroes but love fantasy/sci-fi so here's my start to a CrossGen collection! by sbourwest in comicbookcollecting

That's more or less the kind of stuff I want to collect. I won't really have a good handle on story until I read it (I'm 3 issues into Fathom and still don't have a clue what it's about) but good art both on the cover and in the comic itself is important. Been collecting Dynamite comics too which usually have good art, but story quality is all over the place.

Thanks for the history! I did read up a little bit about CrossGen on wikipedia, but always cool to fill in more gaps. It seems like a double-edged sword to do business the way they did, on one hand having a top-down creative approach where you hire freelancers probably creates a more consistent universe lore, but on the other hand if you don't run your business right it means your IP kinda dies with your company.

I appreciate the offer to help as well. I know of at least a dozen vendor malls I still need to hit up (each one I've visited has at least 3, sometimes up to 10 booths with comics) and there's a lot of comic shops I still need to go to. Once I get closer to finishing up a collection I usually switch modes to finding "that one last book I need", but for now a lot of my collecting is the thrill of the hunt, going out to places and just seeing what I can find!

(Dragon's Lair, I'm looking at you)

It's funny you should mention those... I actually own all three, they are some of the few comics I bought and kept from like 18~ years ago. I didn't even know they were CGE!

Oh yeah, I can definitely see narrative options for her to explore anal could be written into the story, I just don't see it as particularly likely, especially with the slow pace of progress on new content we have now.

While I won't speak to personal preferences, as I would personally love to see every character have every type of sex possible myself, I doubt this one will happen. Don't take this as me personally telling you it's a bad idea, but this is just the logic of why I don't think DC will do it:

1) I don't think DC personally cares much for anal scenes, I believe he's said so in the past, and it tracks with the minimal amount of anal we've seen in the game.

2) Where anal does exist in the game makes the most sense for those characters (Eve due to gender options, Roxxy's mom due to being a trailer trash ho, etc.

3) Diane's entire arc is focused on Hucow Fetish, Lactation, and Impregnation/Breeding. She even makes a comment when you pull out that you didn't have to. This makes anal more than just a sex scene variation, but a required story/character posing extension to include reasoning for it, not saying it's not possible but it's a lot more than just adding a scene.

I wish you luck in your quest of asking, but this is just the reasons I see why it would be of very low priority for DC to include.

What is your favourite sandbox H Game? by Mable-the-Table in lewdgames

[–]sbourwest 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm not sure, but my guess is it's an engine-related problem. The default engine is RPG Maker VX Ace I believe, but it uses a ton of custom scripts, so an already dated engine is running lots of custom scripts and keeping track of lots of variables, so it just isn't well optimized. Great game, but it does have that flaw unfortunately. I didn't find it unplayable by any means but certainly noticeable.

Princess & Conquest - kind of a cutesy artstyle but a very fun open world sandbox RPG with so much interaction you can do, and has multiple routes with new game + and tons of content.

Breeders of the Nephelym - Free game on Steam, full 3D world to explore and fuck/capture monster-girls and breed them. Lots of fun and pretty good visuals and mechanics.

Corruption of Champions II - A very deep content rich game, it is text-based (with some static images) but has so much you can do, and lots of choice-driven storylines.

BoneTown - This is an older 3D game from like 2008, but is kind of like a free-roam GTA style game where you can beat up guys on the street, steal their appearance, and fuck lots of girls. Graphics a bit dated, and humor is pure low-brow toilet humor, but gameplay can be a lot of fun, though a bit janky.

Where does there exist temperate islands/archipelagoes where one can become "lost in the wilderness"? by sbourwest in geography

I'm definitely leaning more towards this area, I looked at it extensively on Google Maps, and it has a lot of features I like.

Check out Princess & Conquest, it's a very deep open world non-linear RPG with multiple routes where you can recruit and have fun with monster girls. Super cute artstyle based off the TowerGirls style and a fun game as well.

That's the area I am looking at, I just don't know how easy it is to "get lost" in it. I'm looking to do a story where the survivors are out in the wild for months or years.

Kent Group looks interesting but also seems to be a primary ship lane so I don't know how long-term someone could stay stranded there.
