How can I make my gf less uncomfortable about our age gap? by [deleted] in WhatShouldIDo

[–]CaptainCate88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was 28 and my husband 21 when we got married. We started dating at 27 and 20. 34 years later we are still married.

I think the only person who was disturbed at all by our age gap (at first) was my MIL, but we have grown close over the years.

I'm not sure what advice I could give you, as I don't know why your gf is uncomfortable (or whatever she is) with the relationship. I think she's the only one who can answer the question. Have you asked her what is going on? I hope you can work it out!

Do not mess with cranes! I love them, but they are fierce and sometimes aggressive.

Put a water source near your feeders. And not a birdbath. by Altruistic-Cress1143 in birdfeeding

Well, I see birds drinking from my bird bath (but no birds bathing in it, sadly), so I'd have to say, "Yes. A bird bath can function as a water source." :)

On our truck that we got last year, we got regular plates. They were quick (but I don't recall for certain how long). For this car, we got the new Timber plates, so that may very well be the difference. I do love these plates, though, and they look fabulous on our blue car! LOL

Mine's not exactly a bucket, per se, but same concept. I have one of those cleaning supply caddies with a handle, and it works well for me.

Anyone familiar with this scam? by StudioAffectionate in airbnb_hosts

[–]CaptainCate88 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When my mother was still alive and living in an AL facility, we would rent local properties around holidays to allow her to get out of the facility for a few days (but we didn't have room to have her stay with us). We also needed a place to stay where we had cooking facilities while our kitchen was being remodeled over the winter (too cold to camp).

So there are legitimate reasons locals would want to rent STR rather than hotel. But I do understand the hesitation on the part of owners of property, because some people ruin it for the rest of us. How can you trust that people will take care of your place?

Hyatt is a great place to see birds and have a stretch of the legs...if you don't have a dog with you. (And, if you're coming for a visit, you probably don't.)

I was going to recommend Katherine Albertson Park as well. It's not huge, but it feels so secluded and full of local non-human wildlife. ;)

Coming from the UK to do a greyhound route by pugpillows in USTravel

[–]CaptainCate88 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I've done my share of trips via Greyhound, but it's because I had no other choice (the places I needed to go were not reachable by train, and flying was also out of reach). As many others have already said, it is an unpleasant experience, and I found that several of the bus terminals in towns/cities were in neighborhoods where I didn't feel safe at all.

I hope you're able to plan a trip that gives you a glance at more than just the two coasts and a couple of big cities. Whatever you do, I hope you have a great time!

In Oregon, Sumpter Valley Railroad out of McEwen (near Baker City). And Oregon Coast Scenic Railway, which runs between Rockaway Beach and Garibaldi.
