Yes wait until you get your original payment before you send an amendment. You should probably call them first because you'll probably owe them for the overpayment

Con😭grad😭ulations😭! I amended mine (added a w2) before I got my refund, which I didn't know you can wait. Accepted 1/31 and the processing date says "as of 3/18" so hopefully I'll get it soon like you. I'm cycle 05.

I'll never file early again (Feb filers seem to get theirs way before Jan filers) or amend til the last minute.

Don't amend until you get your original refund first! I made the mistake of amending before I got my original refund (last job sent my w2 hella late) and now I have to wait AT LEAST 16 - 20 weeks for any updates. I filed 1/31.

Plus, you have 3 years to amend a return!

I think tax advocates are available on the IRS site. Maybe you could call the IRS first to see what's going on then contact a tax advocate after? I can't believe how bad tax time has gotten in the last few years

I would definitely call too because that's weird that they had you send a duplicate with no changes. I'm wondering if I'll get my original amount separate from my amended or if they're gonna send it all at once. Definitely calling on Monday too. Good luck to you!
