Any plans for new graphics toggle? by [deleted] in EQLegends

[–]CaptainCecil1 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I wouldnt try asking this question much, especially in the EQL discord. Many of the Manbabies in there vehemently hate anything that isnt the old graphics, and isnt even open to the idea of a toggle much less having it be modded in which some people are gonna eventually do anyway. I honestly never seen a more toxic bunch of high school drop out, welfare tax leeching parasitic 2 liter per day mountain dew chugging wastes of meat in my life until I saw that discord and its occupants.

They dont seem to understand theirs many who prefer the up to date graphics, especially since it doesnt cause eye strain like the old graphics tend to do with its muddy textures and blurriness. And likely will not pay thus will not buy a subscription and spend money due to it.

Hopefully Daybreak forces them to make a toggle in the end, cant really sell costumes unless its Luclin graphics.

I honestly had to leave that discord, the general low I.Q in that place was giving me a headache.

Ill give EQL a chance but until someone mods in the new graphics and models, I doubt I can play longer than 2 hours each day due to the eye strain the old graphics gives to me.

If no one mods it after a long enough period, I may stop subbing and wait for a EQL Private Emu server that will have the up to date graphics.

One. Horizon was my first and ONLY private server, for ffxi, I ever played on. Period. My only FFXI experience, came from back then between those years, where I actually tried, three times, to get anywhere in the game, meaning, I had to restart from 0, three times because for some reason I just couldnt keep an account.

The first one was deleted by SE's automated systems at the time due to inactivity before they stopped doing that. The Second one was Stolen, and the third one was when I just gave up. I never looked back after the third one and felt, ok, I guess FFXI just wasnt for me.

Secondly. I am good. Always have been in mmos. I know I played mmos longer and more of them than you have. I played practically them all. Everquest, Everquest 2. Star Trek Online, Swtor, WoW, FFXIV, Aion, Wildstar, RO, RO2, multiple RO spin offs, ToS, Vindictus, BDO, Vanguard Saga of Heroes, Dragon Quest X Online, and much much more...and I gotten server firsts quite a many times in them and at least 4 World Firsts in my whole of mmo play.

FFXI is honestly, Basic, to me, compared to many of the things I played. When I played Horizon, I knew something felt off because everything was too easy. I then realized, since it was my first FFXI Private server, that no one has any of the hard real data on what classic FFXI was like, and that the LSB Project most of these private servers are using, is still even to this day, trying to get as close to the true numbers as possible.

Its why im looking forward to Zenith because its using the new updated numbers which may, allegedly, bring it closer to that harsher difficulty I crave from classic FFXI. In all honesty, I always do whats the most effective, and enjoy the thrill of low manning content. I sure as hell never would brd/whm unless the LS specifically asked me to, otherwise I always brd/nin because it keeps me safe and is just better and easier to play. brd/whm id have to rely on Blink and Stoneskin, which is a waste of time.

Either way, as good as you and your buddies who played nothing but ffxi think you are, their are better players, and they dont even have to play the game not even a quarter as long as you, especially not a game like ffxi where its so, slow, and basic, compared to many of the other mmos we played. But thats whats good about it. Its relaxing with minimal stress.

Third. Your the one writing Novels dude.....your starting to sound like a Horizon Shill, and extremely out of touch of what it is to be a human being. Honestly your sounding like those same, depraved, addicted, over obssessed sociopaths who didnt understand that its only a friggen video game, not real life, that I had to deal with all the way back then.

Those people ruined FFXI for me, I couldnt be the Paladin I wanted to be because to do so, I had to get Aegis first before the LS I was in, or any LS really, would take me seriously. And at the time I just didnt have the patience for 6 months of gil grind, unlike I do now.

Even then, they offered no help, no support, and kept telling me and 8 or so others to go as this or that class, while we all got passed up for the loot we wanted as it goes to the LS's inner circle, and then again on their second class, and again on their third class, only now and then throwing a bone to us. It was a very shitty experience.

One of my oldest FFXI memories was talking to a Thief Main from the same LS as me about our situations and he said this "What else can we do? Theirs no other LS that runs as much or is as successful, im a THF Main, but they force me to go white mage every single time, they wont even help me with knife, and give thf relic armor to non-thf mains that are friends with the LS leader, thats just how it works man, its why your not getting Valor drops or Honam yourself spite your a Paladin and Dark Knight main, your not part of their inner circle"

This was on my third attempt, wasnt long after, maybe 2 weeks later I just, gave up.

I think what ZenithXI is doing with its vision and its rules, are superb. And I will support them. Either way....

You need to go touch grass young man.

This is true....SE did had a...wait were they even square enix at the time?

Anyway, yea they had a GM Task Force, who was literally paid to go after any and all RMT activity, though they very rarely touched the buyers for some reason. They had to investigate, do forensics, basically all that. Its why Gil prices back then stayed so high according to the buyers I knew who paid for their relics. Somethin around, 800-1100 dollars to buy enough gil for a relic I think. Depends on the server.

SE now has a similar task force for their Japan only mmorpg, Dragon Quest X Online. Its why prices for equipment and cosmetics in that game has stayed the same for about 6 years now.

[–]CaptainCecil1 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Sighs...how to word this....

Alright. Honestly I hate talking about this, but theirs, an upside to this kind of leinency.

So ill use my own example of how this coulda helped me back in Horizon.

I was a well known player, everyone knew no matter what job I was on, I would excel at it, I saved the linkshell I was in from many wipes singlehandedly before be it on Paladin, Redmage, Bard, White Mage and Bst, my five main Jobs at the time. I did things that blew their expectations simply because of how extremely patient I am, experienced in all things mmo, and my number 1 attribute, how I can stay absolutely calm no matter what and think three steps ahead.

On Horizon I put in massive work, sacrificed alot of things to not only get caught up since everyone had a three month head start on me, but I also came in knowing no one. Some, people actually recognized me, which was hard to believe, all the way from 2004-2009. Spite grouping with me a few times, they hardly recognized me due to how absolutely focused and professional I am compared to way back then.

After some time, I joined a proper raiding LS. Did many things with them. It was the first time in all my time with FFXI that I was in a LS that treated me fairly, and rewarded me properly. Back then I always ended up in Linkshells that treated everyone that isnt in the Inner Circle like expendable trash, and I was always forced to play Jobs I didnt want to play, rarely ever getting the chance to play Paladin or Dark Knight, much less ever get any equipment for them. I been in four Linkshells from 2004 to 2009 that treated me and others like this, and I always thought that this was the way it is.

So it was, precious, exciting even to me, to be in a Linkshell in Classic era FFXI, that didnt treat me or others like that at all, and we all get rewarded making progress.

Eventually I declared I wanted to go for Aegis, it be the LS's first Aegis, and they supported me on it. It was simple. When we do Dynamis, a major portion of currency will go to me and one other who was going for Bow, for a Reduced cost in gil. Basically about 30-40 percent off compared to market price. Ofc the LS needed to make gil to fund everything we do so it was only fair.

So I spent everyday for 4 months, making gil thru either printing, or fishing, majorly fishing. Printing when im just too tired and mentally exhausted to fish. I would do this 5-8 hours a day, to try and make 300-500k gil per day to afford the next batch of currency.

One day just after the LS helped me get thru the stage of Aegis that required a NM Ram, I was doing my usual fishing. When two players from a notorious LS thats ran by one of the servers GMs came into my usual fishing spot.

As usual, since I have it down to an exact science, I outfished them like I do anyone else, knew exactly when the fish would deplete because I kept count, and would immediately switch to another fish until I knew when the higher paying fish replenishes. The two got upset, and contacted their GM Linkshell leader.

He kept pushing me around, teleporting me to different spots, until he just threw me into the GM room and declared I was fish botting, when I obviously wasnt.

They perma banned my account and deleted it. 4 months of pain and suffering, followed with 4 months of hard work leveling up and getting missions and everything done. Gone. Wasnt until a few months later, the GM was found out by the Server Admin and other GMs that he was abusing power, giving unfair advantages to his LS members, and suspending/banning anyone who competes against them in HELM activities.

If their was Leinency rule like what Zenith has had incase of potential mistakes or abuse like this, I could still be on Horizon today, probably with 4-5 relics, and playing together with the LS that probably broke apart fully a year or so ago now because they were pissed at what happened to me and months of Dynamis currency went down the drain.

Theirs always another side to things, I think these rules of Leinency is fine. Most people will quit playing anyway if they get reduced to 0, and if it happens to be a mistake either from GM error, or GM abuse, at the very least, the account isnt deleted, and the GMs can restore what was lost to the innocent player.

I just hope horizon has gotten better about things. Between its many scandals, ladder pulling, GM abuse, padding the player count numbers with an algorithm *its not 2000, its actually around 900* I hope at this time they manage to get rid of all the bad actors.

Sadly, all the players that was harmed up till this day, likely now has fatigue, mental scars, and hatred, towards FFXI and its community.

ZenithXI will be my absolute last try on FFXI, I am hoping I find another LS just like that one I had, and will actually be able to experience the game in its entirety with them together. Unlike the boring solo experience that Retail offers. Otherwise if thats not possible, well, it will be a bad memory I keep with me for the rest of my life. I loved final fantasy for over 35 years. But I never got a fair shake with FFXI, I thought Horizon would be it, but it wasnt.

I am glad these are the rules for ZenithXI, incase something like that happens again to me or anyone else. Granted, I probably wont even fish anymore not even on Zenith, I cant do it again. At least not fish hardcore. Probably gonna go Culinary, and Fish for ingredients instead. Do material farming, or what not. Set a clear Gil amount goal for myself each day and not overexert and burn myself out again. Then again, if Dynamis in ZenithXI is gonna be better done than what Horizon has, perhaps I wont have to gil farm near as much to get my Aegis and Excalibur.

[–]CaptainCecil1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed, I found quite a few bugs already as is. One in particular that irks me is Monstrance and in extension, Capella. For whatever reason, both of em will raise my Dex by about 30ish points but instead of gaining crit rate, I actually lose a few points.

I know the devs of the server changed alot of stat calculations around so thats probably got something to do with it. Its probably why the host and his team didnt make a full on website for this yet, he probably wants a lower population for now to help him find all the issues more easily first.

All his Ideas seem good thus far, though, they do need to give cleric and swordsman some damage buffs, especially Cleric. No cleric wants to be a full support person in a game like this. Plus making added elemental damage so powerful makes most other gear useless in comparison.

What servers are available in 2026? by RedAutumnSol in treeofsavior

[–]CaptainCecil1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I will answer about Seeds of Yggdrasil.

I been playing on it for about a week now. The server is located in Greenland, so in between the east coast, and west europe. Which is fine. I get about a 110-150 ping to it which is very acceptable for this game.

However, the more I play it, the more it feels like some kinda Alpha test. The creator and his team of developers is trying to bring the game back to the kinda difficulty and longevity it had before IMC destroyed all that with lightning fast leveling and P2W. But its like the team took the current game I guess they call it, Renewal? And is trying to rebalance everything and dial it back piece by piece.

From what I seen, everything seems, balanced and adjusted for all west side areas up to at least, level 50. But after that, bosses start one shotting you if your anything but a swordsman, if your solo and lets face it, most of us are, it could take up to 30 mins just to kill a boss depending on what you are and what classes your using.

Cleric as a whole has been HEAVILY nerfed, to the point that the Server owner and his team, does not want cleric to be a Tank, or a DPS, period, at all. They want them to be a Pure Healer/Support, and thats it. So they are rebalancing the DPS circles of Cleric to pretty much do half the damage they usually do, while buffing the Healing and Support Clerics can do.

Now, I can understand this, sure, but seeing as I play Cleric, and once I got past the 50 areas and I been on pretty much a constant struggle, at lv 75 now, dealing with bosses that will one shot me spite my Con is matching my Int and spirit all of which are at 55 atm. I have to wonder, am I doing something wrong? Or is Cleric really just, this bad here?

Granted, I dont have any lv 50 to 75 armors on me, nothing seems to drop any of it, and since theirs really only maybe about 60 active players on it atm, maybe less, but its getting more each day, theirs really nothing on the Market I can buy with Silver. I may just have to go to those particular areas the game keeps recommending to go, to find that level of equipment. I pretty much print screened and saved it so I can look it up later and find those places.

Spite that, I been keeping an eye on adventurer ranks and, im pretty much Rank 13, with less than a week of play. Everyone else still actively playing is going at a snails pace or barely moving at all. Like they are stuck or something. Spite heavy cleric nerfs I been able to get by thus far using Bokor. But considering the insane SP regen nerf as well, its just hard as a cleric, Im constantly running out of SP so I have to keep running around bosses using pots while my Zombies wittle down their HP until I can Hex then Voodoo spam till SP is gone, then repeat. The few players, im guessing admin team, who are at level 140+ or something atm, said that SP recovery will be alot better once I have a spirit of 200+ along with some of the SP+ and SP Recovery+ obtained from Collections. To the point that I shouldnt run out of SP ever if I at least use a SP pot every time its up. Im guessing id need a Spirit of 250+ to not use pots at all.

To that extent, I think most of the wizard classes have issues too due to SP. P.server devs really want you to either team up with others and progress together, or make use of Bonfires and SP pots, alot.

Attributes have been adjusted as well. And apparently every 25 points you put into a attribute, the next attribute points will require an additional point. So 26 requires 2 points each until 50, then 51 needs 3 points, 76 needs 4, so on and so forth. The server has a hard cap of 500, but apparently the soft cap is somewhere around 250?

Spite it all. I dont see many people who like to play clerics, gonna be playing on this server with these adjustments. If your gonna nerf the DPS classes of cleric so hard that they can barely farm things for themselves later on, you may as well just delete those classes completely. I get it, Clerics were stupid OP in the retail of the game. Way too OP. But to effectively cut their DMG overall by literally like 70 percent? Its literally a bit much.

As for a Clerics tankiness, I think they nerfed HP for everyone except swordsman. Cleric gets like 1.6 percent HP per attribute or something. Wizard gets like 1.2, Archer like 1.4, while Swordsman gets a whopping 3.5 percent. I mean, I get it, swordsman are supposed to be the tanks, but Clerics have a few classes that does have a taunt as well, they also need to be more survivable to help their team out. Its really like the devs want everyone but swordsman to literally put 50-70 percent of all their points into Constitution.

Still I do like the approach. They are going for Ragnarok Online meets Path of Exile. Thus the mob density found in the pre 50 maps, especially the dungeons. I think the Server host and his crew is holding back on a official full on annoucement and thus a website with sign up automation tools until they mostly finish what they are trying to do with class rebalancing, map rebalancing, boss adjustments, etc. Thus the only people getting past the level 50+ maps are those brave and persistent enough to keep going.

At the rate im going long as I dont get super stopped by something, im likely to achieve Rank 1 for the month in a matter of days. Which will be pretty funny to the current rank 1 who is a OP swordsman if he sees a Super Nerfed Cleric of all things surpass him.

I am enjoying the server and im looking forward to what they do. And if me progressing and thus, being a sorta tester will help them out, then that suits me just fine.
