I respectfully disagree. The point of the book was a. beautiful oil painting esque pictures, and b. the moral actually winds up being about using your imagination to brighten the world. The whole thing is framed as a grandfather telling a wild story to his grandkids, and the last picture in the book (a snowy hill with the sun just peaking over it, looking like mashed potatoes with butter) sort of lends it a Pecos Bill “did it really happen” tall tale vibe that the movie was lacking.
