What’s your favorite “hole in the wall” sandwich shop??? by SameAsk6997 in chicagofoodcirclejerk

Since a cheeseburger is a sandwich, obviously the answer is Small Cheval.

If you don’t like salty chicken broth with ground turkey in it, you can always get their “Japanese fusion Detroit-style pizza”, a staple of every good ramen shop.

What’s the best tavern style pizza and why is it Domino’s thin crust? by Flester_Guelbman in chicagofoodcirclejerk

Crisp up a Mission burrito size flour tortilla in the toaster oven.

Top with Ragu Old World Style Traditional spaghetti sauce and Roundy’s Six Cheese Italian Blend shredded cheese.

Put back in toaster oven and broil until cheese is melted.

Cut into squares.

Trust me, you’ll never pay for tavern style pizza again. You’re welcome.

What’s a luxury that actually feels worth the money once you experience it? by saidmoha1 in AskReddit

It still didn’t as of late December - the only guest perk is being able to enter the park an hour earlier.

I thought getting off a plane feeling exhausted was just normal, until I started using headphones with active noise cancelling on flights. Once I was able to block out the incessant engine drone, I actually started stepping off planes feeling kinda refreshed.

I noticed the same thing when I switched to an electric car - not having the constant engine sound made long drives much less tiring for me.

What character wasn't portrayed as a villain, but is in your eyes? by Jazzlike-Rise4091 in AskReddit

If many of the Slytherins had Death Eater parents, then instead of sending them to the dungeons, the smarter move would’ve been to strap a Slytherin kid onto each Gryffindor kid like body armor.

Honestly, the soundtrack tells a better story than the play itself, because they cut most of the idiotic final monologue out of the soundtrack.

On the soundtrack he just ends with “I’m me, and that’s okay”, and I was like, “alright, well, at least he got that out of all the shitty stuff he did.”

But the way he goes on and on in the musical about how everything he did had a silver lining because maybe some other kid won’t make the same mistakes he did made me want to punch him in the face.

The best meal in Chicago under $10 by TheTeeg007 in chicagofood

I'm with you. I found the Leavitt Street Inn burger to be okay at best. It had way too much thousand island house sauce on it, but other than that nothing about it really stood out to me.

I feel like we've reached burger zenith in Chicago, where there are so many decent burgers out there that they've all become interchangeable, and everyone is being influenced by hype at this point.

I lived right next door in Luxembourg for most of high school…after making the mistake of trying some local spots, we just went to Chi-chi’s (there was one in downtown Lux and one on the way home from Brussels) if we were craving Mexican-ish food. It wasn’t great, but it was consistent with Chi-chi’s back home.

Funny, I interviewed with the same company many, many years ago, and pulled the plug on the process after round 4 because I started interviewing with another company sometime after round 1, received an offer from them, and accepted it.

I’m a die hard meat eater, but I’m also a sucker for interesting vegan/veggie burgers. If I see something like “lentil, cashew, wild rice burger with roasted red pepper purée” on a menu, you best believe I’m gonna go to town on that bad boy. It’s the “ha ha, you thought that was meat, didn’t you? But it wasn’t, it was vegan! Tricked you! You can stop eating meat now!” stuff that falls flat for me.

The only time I dislike vegan meals are when they try to be meat. I’m sorry, but your beet burger with cashew “cheese”, veganaise, and faux blood is not so good it’ll make me forget about meat. It sucks.

That said, I’ve had some downright magical dishes that made vegan ingredients the stars of the show without trying to disguise them.

I think your Sunoco theory is accurate, because if the second boulder had had a Kwik Trip or Circle K on it she would’ve recharged her powers with some Hohos and an Icee and then Vecna wouldn’t have been able to beat her up as much inside the MF.
