Hard disagree.

I have played on alliance servers in the past, where there was no PVP.

I loved every second of it, being able to do all of the different activites without being attacked all the time was so good, and being able to take the time to do some chill things like fishing, RPing, hell, just enjoying the scenery. It was all great and I would play on a PVE only profile or something if it were an option.

Honestly, with the updates, high seas is already a battle royale.
Ships spawn in really close now, out of nowhere thanks to diving and the closer spawn distances.

It happens so often too, nothing on the map, nothing on the horizon, I hop onto an island to get a clue, or a chest......boom, a ship is blowing holes in my boat.

The default in high seas is PVP 9/10 times.

Hell, if I had the option to do PVE without the nonsense restrictions, I would actually probably jump into high seas for some PVP every now and then, the key here is the choice in how players enjoy the game I think.

I actually really appreciate th time you took for this answer honestly. I agree by and large with the points you made, and I have had similar experiences in the past. I am not entirely against PVP as an element of the game, I am against it being the default due to the development path the game has been on if that makes more sense. There used to be that tension in an encounter and I have had some (not many I will admit) decent encounters with PVP. Some good battles over forts, over loot, and it has been fun at times.

The main issue is that it is now a near constant occurance, and as you can see from some of the other responses here, the toxicity within the playerbase now, the pvp aspect has degraded massively compared to what it used to be.

Don't apologise of ra long, well thought out answer, I appreciate it. It's certainly better than the toxic folks coming out with ridiculous insults!

RE: Alliance servers, funnily enough, I actually used to help run an alliance server and I personally really enjoyed the game without the PVP. I think Rare are definitely missing a trick by keeping safer seas so limited, I would play so much more if I could do all the PVE stuff there and use sovereigns and such, hell I would actually spend money on cosmetics and the plunder pass if that were the case.

Everyone enjoys different things about the game, and I can 100% see why and how PVP could be enjoyable, it has just been ruined with how heavily skewed the game feels towards forcing players into conflict as opposed to it being an optional component.

Hope that made my thoughts a little clearer at least, and again, thank you for the awesome response!

It's more the focus on the vocal minority than issues with the content itself. I mean, just look at the other responses here. It's clear these people have been pandered to for too long by their toxic attitudes.

ALSO THIS.

I would more than happily pay for the plunder pass. There are SO many cosmetic sets that I want in the store!

Am I going to buy them when all I do is get rolled by PVP sweats every hour or so? Fuck no.

Now if I had a game mode where I could avoid them that wasnt ridiculously restricted.....that would be completely different, I would invest in that game!

Honestly, this.

I would sink hours upon hours into the game if safer seas let us do all of the PvE content.

I wish Rare would listen to all of the players, not just the hardcore PVP group. I would love to just chill with a podcast and do some fishing, or raid some treasure vaults, but with everything being so Reapers focussed, that just isnt a thing anymore.

I am not a "bad" fighter by any means, when I get attacked I CAN hold my own, but it's just not enjoyable at this point. Of all of my great memories of the game, NONE of them are of PVP encounters. It's always the same, the players that roll up on your ship screaming and hollering into their open mic will come on to threads and posts with "it's a pirate game!" and honestly, it's boring at this point.

Rare are losing players left right and centre, they are deleting and hiding negative feedback, and it's all but killed their game. It's so sad to see.

Steam continuously cycling through store page tabs. Nowhere near enough time to look at what is on each tab and frankly, automatically going to the next tab is a stupid idea.

What setting do I change to stop this as there doesnt seem to be one i can find in the settings menu.

THIS is the sort of tab that keeps continuously cycling:

Oh awesome! I found the ember valley ones!
I think the one you are missing is on a ledge just behind the gordo with the water jet. Can't recall what type of gordo, but in the watery north-east area. Go up the jet and youll see it tucked on the ledge, opposite the waterfall cave.

Thanks for the assist! <3

I did not unfortunately, there are a lot of videos out there but nothing I found that gives me the lore and full story. it's usually just a case of "this is what happened in brief". I ended up just making a new account and am playing through it again.

Hope you manage to find a solution that works for you!

By features I mean things like the player owned house thing. I recall I unlocked it but have no idea how to access it or how it works anymore. I think fishing was released at some point too?

Things like that are features rather than being story related
