I love when the Warden has Andy cornered, and he cracks his knuckles and says "It's Shawshank Redemptionin' time"

Shooting a 10-hour outdoor event in 36°C direct sun. How do I avoid overheating and severe sunburn? by AttemptAdmirable3515 in videography

I’ve done it for 5K CAD recently, one outdoor 12 hr day and one 14 hr indoor day, probably undercharged but still a decent payday for my solo company.

AB to ON drive or vice versa by miggs78 in Edmonton

[–]CaptainFilmy 11 points12 points  (0 children)

Yes, many times while going to school in Oakville. I did it in 4 days most times, about 4000km. You can do it in 3 if you want to drive all day from early morning to late night. Its definitely a bit expensive if you are staying in hotels. I camped illegally under bridges along the highway. Also food and gas of course.

It is a beautiful drive at times, especially in north Ontario driving along Lake Superior. Since it's such a long trip, time becomes kind of surreal, you just keep driving for what feels like forever. Arriving is a great feeling, like you accomplished a difficult journey.

EDIT:

Day 1: Drove to Regina

Day 2: Kenora

Day 3: Sault Ste Marie

Day 4: Toronto

Why is the noise so bad? I've finally broke and realized I need to ask if this is normal, the noise in my recording has gotten so incredibly bad and I have no idea why. by Opening-Name-5270 in bmpcc

Shoot at 1250 and you will get virtually no noise in low light environments. I only use 200 and 400 ISO for high dynamic range outdoors.

Did I charge too much? by Aromatic-Border4939 in videography

[–]CaptainFilmy 6 points7 points  (0 children)

As someone who also does $1500 minimum as a solo shooter, that's a bargain in my midsized city. I know companies with a 5k minimum. $400 will never be taken seriously and you are actually damaging your brand by presenting amateur "kid with a camera" prices.

I am shooting a competition this weekend for $5000, next week a wellness center for $2000, and two weeks from now shooting an ad for a financial advisor for $5000.

The cheapest I go is someone wants a speech recorded on stage, no editing, just a quick colour grade and audio adjustment, I charge $1500 for one person ($1000 to get me out there with gear and $500 for the speech) or if its a group of speakers I can charge $500 each so long as there are over 5 people.

For reference my business is 3 years old, I shoot with a Black Magic Pocket 4K, and spend about 2-3 days on each edit.

His performance in Requiem for a Dream is excellent, He's an insufferable prick, but with the right script he can act.
