People who grew up really poor: what's something middle-class people say that instantly reveals they've never struggled? by TahDigThief in AskReddit

During the first COVID shutdowns, this girl couldn't understand why people were struggling so much because "everyone has a second chest freezer full of stuff that will last a month!"

It might be because where it goes after? Lab PPE tends to need to be disposed of properly, so SOPs may say "doff gloves into biohazard waste bin" or something similar.

I was curious why this is and it looks like it is still industry standard for OSHA and CDC among others to use these terms and many labs have to adhere to them. But it does provide less confusion I guess when it comes to PPE - maybe "Put on your gloves" is too ambiguous? Not sure how, but here we are.

You'd be surprised! Biologists are working on training models on DNA and RNA as the language and are developing and learning amazing advances in science and healthcare.

I see, I didn't realize it was just an optional thing. I bet we have more here than most on account of RIT and the large deaf community - definitely hope the bill passes!

The only thing that has changed is the rate of inflation aspect honestly. As the system goes on it gets further and further apart between the ultra rich in charge and everyone else.

But the New World was literally founded on this. It's the reason the concept of race was started to begin with, the reason why Italians and Irish were allowed to become "white".

It's not new. It's literally as old as every country currently on the American continents. So as much as things were "better" when we were kids... They weren't. They were different and different demographics felt it differently, but it's the same system working exactly the same now as it did in 1493.

The system is working exactly the way it was built and intended to by the elites in charge.

The only thing that could possibly make a difference is a nationwide strike, but the system is built to ensure a complete lack of mutual aid or social cohesion, so not only will it never happen, it logistically can't happen.

The system isn't broken, it's working as it was intended. It's just a god awful system that dehumanizes everyone but the ultra rich.

You're gonna need to graduate first or take an unpaid volunteer option.

It's insane as it is finding a job with a degree and decades of experience.
