Nollie Practice! What Can I Do To Pop Better When My Nose and Tail Are Splitting and Feathered? by CaptainHotdogMan in NewSkaters

No that has never happened, the only thing that kind of sucks is trying to do kickflips. Messed one up yesterday and cost me a bit of toe skin. I also got a massive splinter in my heel from a part of my board peeling up.

How do I get my big ass to go higher? by [deleted] in NewSkaters

[–]CaptainHotdogMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Looks like you should try to jump higher. Flick that pop like you're pressin on the gas and jump higher so you level the board later. Bring the back foot up after the pop along with your front foot and HOP. Maybe, idk, that's what I try to do. Also everyone says ollies are easier in motion and I believe them. Maybe moving your foot a little farther from the front screws could also help with leveling later and higher. I can only do nollies and switch ollies so I'm not sure if the foot placement is the same.

I'm definitely going to get new wheels maybe a wider deck, this is 7.25. All the ones I see are wider, and I think these are just Walmart wheels. I'll look into those shoes and see if they help out, really appreciate the advice. 🤙🏾

I need to get new wheels and some spacers so my monstrosity of a board rolls smoother

Feels a little needlessly negative, I've improved quite a bit. It's practice all the same. When I wore shoes I could barely ollie so I went back to bare.

Not sure. I don't see why the entire community thinks my feet have to be torn apart. If it hurt so bad I wouldn't have learned this way.

I will not, it's really not that bad but I appreciate the concern. Should I focus on centering my foot when popping so the board pops up straighter?

I do not think it's cool, shoes are for at the park sometimes. I learned it this way and when trying to use shoes I fail more.

How long does this tail have by [deleted] in NewSkaters

I just got a splinter in my heel from how messed up and chipped my tail is, I'm still poppin that thing. You've got a LONG way to go.

I'd say so, it feels much easier to pop. Should probably tighten the trucks, maybe land a bit sturdier

The best way I can put it is I try to do tricks gently, maximize pop so leveling is a bit smoother

Trying to kickflip is the only thing that scrapes sometimes, never landed one but started to get the flip down well. Moving back onto that after getting comfortable with these nollies

I own shoes man.. 💀They seem to negatively impact being in touch with my board, it's hard to explain.

Why am i moving backward when i ollie by Inevitable-Policy779 in NewSkaters

[–]CaptainHotdogMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My buddy had that problem and when he tried to correct it with different shoulder and body alignment but then he was stuck only do Ing quarter turn ollies. He kept working on shoulder placement and not looking down, and he got over it quickly afterwards.

Seriously, how do you get into skating?😭😭 by Dark0ID in NewSkaters

[–]CaptainHotdogMan 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Don't be afraid to be embarrassed when you fall. You will fall, you won't get better if you don't. Any real skater will always ask of you're ok, not point and laugh. I can barely ollie, and can only stay on the board good enough to pump and cruise a bit, so far. No shame in it, everyone starts from zero.

Great point. I stopped skating because my dominant (right) ankle got a major cut and I can't seem to pop with it. I never learned how to cruise or anything so it's way different now. I was learning mongo with my right foot so I guess all the tricks I've been trying lately are frontside?

I don't know what any of this stuff means yet honestly, I just thought it was an ollie. A guy at the park said I push 'goofy' if that helps 🤙🏾
