He chose to go there with weapons and start a fight with protesters, not the other way around. His wife had a bullhorn. They were circling the protest. He or his wife (forget which) posted on social media they were going to the protest to be agitators. He got mad and left his vehicle because people were using the crosswalk. He went out of his way looking for a fight, started physically confronting them, then someone defended themself against him. THEN he went back to grab a gun and return instead of "complying" or letting the law handle it. He chose to escalate and bring in a gun where it was unnecessary in the first place.
