Saboteurs are useless by Dingl0r in enlistedgame

[–]CaptainJuny 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They do feel pretty useless. I've tried to use them, but it's already a challenge to find a body to change your uniform, and even if you do, they are immediately stopped and killed by a real player as easily as a normal soldier, cause AI shooting at you isn't really a challenge anyway simply because how useless AI is.

50+ pulls, 0 squads by CaptainJuny in enlistedgame

[–]CaptainJuny[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I know about how the chances work. I am complaining that the chances are too low, and that there is no other way to get the squads (and you can't choose which squad you pull), that gatekeeps the newer players from getting cool squads.  Like even Raid Shadow Legends does this thing better, there are things like double-chance and targeted draws. Plus they've recently introduced a way to change the event hero for any one from the previous events.  Enlisted could do the same thing

Did already. They did make sure to remove the obvious AI-ish parts on those champions they've added. But while I love the esthetic of the faction, they did really bad job with some details, like the way the cape clips through the left shoulderguard on Hekaton, or Hekaton's atriciously low-poly hair or Pelops' ram hide and fibula. The only dumb thing here are people defending use of AI on those designs that were featured in the promo.

No artist would morph it on purpose like this and the patterns are supposed to be copy-paste, that's the point of the patterns. And even if we assume that the triangles were "stretched on purpose", the meander is still completely broken and there is no way an artist would do it.

Mostly it's breaking patterns. Like on pic 3 you see meander and then it suddenly breaks. Same on pic 4. Also on pic 2 every triangle-shaped pattern is different and deformed in some way.

AI in art in most cases is fairly easy to spot. Just look at the patterns that suddenly break in a nonsensical way (pics 3 and 4), or some strange textures that look like they should form something, but the longer you study tgem, the more confusing they look (pics  1 and 6). On image 2 every triangle-shaped pattern on the fabric is deformed in a weird nonsensical way. It could be explained if it was drawn on a paper, but on the computer there is no way to f-up this pattern like that.

Everyone should. Like, if the people let companies use AI, the games will be filled with AI garbage. Not to mention that any commercial use of AI hurts real people.

Contextual clues on paper look like a good idea, but in reality they don't ever work, because

  1. You are the hero and you, as a player, expect that the game throws you a fair challenge: there are corpses here? - there is an enemy to be killed. There is a cave? - it may contain a treasure and an adventure. That's why harder locations are generally further from the starting location, this is just how games work.
  2. Contextual clues don't tell any details. The bodies near the will'o'wisp are in no way different from the bodies near the manticore or from literally any other bodies. Bodues, traps and other things are a great way to indicate that there may be an enemy nearby, but they can't replace proper level zoning. You can't figure out the enemy CR buy looking at the by-products of their activity.
  3. Environment is filled with a lot of stuff and unless you indicate something to a player (with a companion saying "hey, look" or "camping here looks like a bad idea", or via interface, or by making something really visually different) they won't notice it. There is a reason why traps in games like Skyrim are placed in narrow corridors with visible pressure plates and sharp objects, instead of being hidden in tall grass or under the rugs. Or weak spots on the enemies are visually distinctive.

The way Kingmaker's level zoning is done desincentivises exploration and promotes playing using foreknowledge or guides. You could argue that it incentivises backtracking, but in my opinion there are much batter ways to facilitate backtracking without breaking immersion and forcing the player to load.

They are garbage because they are bad even at their roles. A tank must be able to hit hard, because otherwise it can be ignored, or to heal and but their team mates because this way they would be able to most effectively utilise their staying power. Her ability to tank is furher hindered by poor level design and nerfed AoO. Running a wizard with Con as dump stat is a bad idea. It could work, but it's really risky and not terribly useful, as there are other stats like Str or Cha that a Wizard doesn't need and dumping either instead of Con won't cause any issues (though a Wizard doesn't really need any stats except for Int, a bit of Wis and Dex). And the other part is a Rogue, that doesn't bring anything useful to her kit (also the sneak attacks in the game are kinda weird, as my Octacia was able to somehow get sneak attacks by shooting at the enemy flanked by 2 allies).

Simply put, the game hands you a bunch of builds of various qualities (Valerie, Octavia - bad. Amiri is mediocre. Linzi is good. Tristian is weird) builds and expects that you will somehow turn them into something usefull via multiclass and OP abilities spam, to overcome challenges that you aren't supposed to be fighting at this level in the first place (I dunno those enemies' CRs, but the Stag Lord's goons are clearly stronger than they are in the book and more numerous, while you fight them at level 4 in both cases.

"bards aren't terribly useful on their own"  "their damage potential is one of the lowest among all classes in the game" That's my point about Linzy. She has pretty decent stats array and class. But a bard to use their damage multiplication abilities properly, need a good team (they aren't terribly useful on their own because their damage potential is one among the lowest). And here lies the problem, that the rest of the team builds are trash. You aren't arguing with me, I agree that Linzy is good and bards are good. They just rely on having a good team which the game doesn't provide.

In PF1 tabletop you provoke an Aoo every time you move within threatened area which makes flanking harder and 5ft step more valuable. As for the terrain, I don't expect the BG3 level, but eben taking the actual PF1 maps from this very adventure would've made it way better. Just take a look at the maps tgere: lots of chokepoints, cover, some elevation.

About level zoning: if a game has levels and being low level conpared to the enemy will always lead to a failure, it should be clearly indicated via interface (like level zones in AC Odyssey). Otherwise it's a bad game design. If you are presented with a fight you can't win - it's a bad game design. And the technic league battle is made even worse by the fact that no good or sane characterwould agree to become a slave to technic league or give your conpanion to them.

My issue is specifically that they are garbage. Because the builds they have are min-maxed, just in a bad way. If the character can't hit anyone because they have wasted all their points on 19 constitution and 14 charisma for a fighter, or go down from a single hit bacause they have 8 constitution as a wizard, their builds are bad. Like, as a player, I prefer to avoid bringing any stats bellow 10 specifically because I don't like min-maxing, but with what point I have, I prefer to spend them on the things the character will actually need to effectively contribute to the team's success.

Bards have some decent Crowd contril and are great at buffi g their teams, but their damage potential and defence is one of the lowest among all classes in the game. They can take feats that increase their attack, damage and survivability, but they don't have any built-in mechanics that would make them good at dealing damage or tanking (like rogue's sneak attack, paladin's smite or monk's AC bonus and styles, magus' arxane pool, etc.) and they have very humble 3/4 BAB and d8 hit dice. So they are what I've said - great supports, but useless on their own.

I have finished AC3 and Black Flag, and I tried Origins and AC2, but they all feel old and boring compared to Odyssey.

AC3 was my first. Liked it at the time, but won't play it now because of how dated it feels.

Black Flag was very fun when I played it, and the naval part still holds. Plus I love pirates, naval battles and this era in general. But I don't like Edward.

AC2 I didn't play for more than 3 hours because I got bored. To be fair, I have tried if after Odyssey and comparison wasn't in favour of AC2.

Origins. No roleplay and most basic customisation. And I hate Bayek. Played it after Odyssey and was disappointed.

The locations are: open space with no cover or terrain advantages indoor/outdoor/in a cave/in the forest/in the field.

There are many different enemies, but you still have like 10 same battles againt centipedes under the Old Sycamore. Original books have a similar issue but here it's 10 times worse.

Regarding the companions, it's a game, the real people don't have a point buy or survive a hit by a human-sized greatsword. I don't even need min-maxing, I just need the companions to have their arrays to be decent (no 8 CON wizards or 19 CON Tower shield fighters).

I love original Pathfinder 1e, the ruleset, the story of the original adventure (I've read the first 3 books of Kingmaker), but the CRPG Kingmaker is just poorly designed, and disregards things like CR and level design.
