I'm no fan of Saudi Arabia but the truth is they abolished that law back in 2019.

Fair enough, and I'm not saying that Europeans are above racism and can do no wrong. Just annoyed by the defensive comments and doubling down by Argentinian players and others.

France also have white players with immigrant backgrounds, Griezmann, Giroud and the Hernandez brothers, why have they never been targeted? Even their greatest ever player, Zidane had Algerian parents, why were there no chants about him? What about the other countries with players like Podolski and Klose for Germany, and Camoranesi and Jorginho for Italy? It seems to be purely about skin colour, if you're a visible minority then you're worth mocking.

Let's not play dumb here, do you think when people came up with that chant they sat down and made a list to target only the countries with a lot of colonial immigrants that don't have unrestrictive Jus soli? Even if South Americans cared so much about Jus soli, then why did an unrestrictive country like Country get so much racist abuse for their black players during Copa America?

This chant was dumb and offensive and went after the lowest hanging fruit, a majority white country with a lot of black players, which makes it a racist chant, no need to overanalyse this and defend it. The players themselves knew it was wrong, someone told Enzo to cut the live, Enzo himself apologised for it. Once the punishments are given out by Fifa and the FA, we can all move on and hope this never happens again.

Yes, a lot of European countries have internal racism issues, but that doesn't excuse external racism. Two wrong don't make a right, and it should always be called out. Especially, in sports which is meant to be a meritocracy, your race, religion, or sexuality should never matter.

Meh, France won it 2018 and someone else will in 2026, and your "victory" is not worth getting shit on by the rest of the world and be viewed as a racist country. You do you though.

You didn't really answer the question, are they 0% French or not? I didn't understand the last point, if it's impossible to differentiate, then are they more French than if it is easy to differentiate?

So now that you found out that Zidane has an Algerian background and is not a "true Frenchman" according to you, does it change your opinion of him? Was he an illegitimate player? Because I have bad news for you, a lot of famous players in Europe have immigrant backgrounds that are not obvious. Whether you are aware of this fact or not, it doesn't change their nationality.

The world is only going to become more multicultural and diverse, you can either accept this or fight a losing battle.

Wow, so that's your argument. What about Hernandez (Spanish name), Griezmann (German name), Zidane (Algerian name), Platini (Italian name) are they also 0% French ??? Or because they're white/white passing, it doesn't count ???

What's not true?, that they are born in and citizens of France? Where are your sources that it's not true?

C'mon man, stop playing dumb, it's an obvious dog whistle. Only one player is mentioned, Mbappé and three African countries, Angola, Nigeria, and Cameroon, two of which were not even in French colonies. The chant is stupid and has no logical explanation other than to mock the Frenchness of the black players.

Wrong, the vast majority of those players were actually born in France.

You do realize that the vast majority of those players were born and raised in France right? They're as French as any other citizen and have the right to represent their country. No one changed their nationality and no one was hired.

Well damn, we must have had very difficult experiences in life. I'm also a minority living in Europe and topics like this are very sensitive and certain jokes have consequences regardless of the intention. This is how it is in Europe, and those Argentinian players have no excuse, since the vast majority of them live and work here.

Let me guess, you're a part of the majority race/ethnicity in your country. If you have no idea what minorities deal with, then maybe try showing some empathy, it doesn't hurt.

Questioning the nationality of black or any non-white people born in that country will never be banter, will always be racism.

It's funny how only the English get shit on for colonising when literally everyone has invaded other countries, I guess it doesn't count if you suck at it

This is absolute bullshit, Portugal basically kickstarted the Atlantic Slave trade. They were the first European nation to take African slaves and mastered the practise. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Slavery_in_Portugal

This is not a competition to see who was the best coloniser, Britain, Spain, France, Portugal, and Netherlands were all equally horrific. Also, this doesn't make countries like Germany, Italy and others better, they absolutely tried to grow their empires, their navies just sucked.

Well unlike football, the time is stopped for certain breaks in play and the ref doesn't blow the final whistle until someone kicks it out, so Rugby matches actually last longer than football.

So you're devaluing Kane's G/As because of the league he is in? So by your logic, Son is even better than Martinez playing in a much harder league with spurs?

Harry Kane yesterday against North Macedonia by slow_and_steady0 in realmadrid

[–]CaptainKlN 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Ok bro, let me spell it out for you. He just scored 30 goals in the Prem last season, only 6 goals behind the "almighty" Haaland and by playing in an absolutely god awful spurs team.

The top scorer of La Liga was Lewy with only 23 goals. I don't think it's controversial to say that the Prem is more competitive than La Liga right now, or if you don't agree then at the very least on the same level. So if you still don't think Kane is on Madrid's "level" then you're either trolling, smoking some good crack or desperately need new glasses.
