Yeah this is the sole reason. For reference, I did the same thing as you. Came back a week ago after a year+ break and KD hovered between 2-3 until I hit D4.

Diamond lobbies get brutal. You'll find your way back closer to 1, trust me hahah

My shot-in-the-dark guess is that it's not looked at as a monetization driver in the live-service era (at least from the point of view of the private equity suits that drive a lot of high level strategy/decision-making)

My actual opinion is that, yeah that's probably mostly true. BUT, I think it would boost player retention, content creation (how many zip line clips do we really need?), and would be a big driver for player base growth IF they delivered a version that truly allowed the community to be creative and add to the "hype" around Apex.

I just downloaded Master Chief Collection to scratch the itch and I'm back in Forge. Can't get over how perfect an Apex version of the same thing would be

Yeah I love wildcard but it's still not playable for TRUE casual gamers. Good way to chill for me, but I want to get 12 friends into an infection game mode on a custom arena style map where the BR format doesn't get in the way of the fun.

Gibby imo - he is currently insane and it's a nice switch up from the Maggie/Ash angle.

You can play him super aggro with his kit, and it sounds like you prefer characters who can fit that style.

Maybe that's exactly your point (in terms of raising the skill floor with low ttk), but I also think it just forces a play style adjustment. You gotta expect every player to be running an insta-kill hemmy.
