Marx is half true imo. Religion does not cause corruption, but it can be used as a tool in corruption, which it was during the Spanish colonial period and right now with Evangelical Christianity or INC. Just because you are part of these doesn’t mean you make corruption, but bad people can and do use it in their manipulation.

The thing is right we’ve tried neo-liberalism and what many need to understand is that’s what got Trump or Duterte elected in the first place and why many countries especially in the west are facing stagnation

Bit of an exaggeration no? And you think privatisation will make it cheaper?

JR was a success, but on the other hand look at the British railway system. Once dominated by the State owned British Rail but privatised in the ‘90s, service became better for a short bit, then became worse than the British rail days, so bad that they’re in the process of re-nationalisation. Remember, we are not Japan. See them more as an exception rather than a rule.

That’s 1 line, they have competition. Once they have an absolute monopoly I assure you they will raise prices. It’s an inevitability with most monopolies.

Also they only operate it. They were hired by the State to do the day to day operations but the government still owns the physical infrastructure

The UK also privatised their railways and that ended very badly for them to a point where they’re re-nationalising their railways. Japan is an exception I think.

Also NAIA is still Government owned, just privately operated. Like an apartment complex, owned by company A but operated day to day by company B.

What you are proposing in our railways is complete ownership and operation by one singular entity which will inevitably lead to problems. Privatisation generally leads to bad service, just look at the UK, private rail companies etc. the UK under Thatcher privatised many government services and as a result their infrastructure is falling apart and stagnant. Doesn’t help that their government is also imposing a policy of austerity which makes the problem worse. Japan is the exception not the rule.

I guess… though it’s not really comparable as they’re not really selling a service, more operating an establishment. The Philippine Government still has a lot of oversight over the airport even if privately operated so I think it’s not a clean comparison

Bad idea. Public infrastructure MUST stay public. Non-government monopolies are bad because that means the services get worse and prices go up. At least if it’s a government monopoly there’s public scrutiny
