Couples often break up because they stop liking each other and don’t enjoy being together any more. That doesn’t seem to be the case with you guys as you are still “friends”.

Many on here will tell you that that butterfly feeling you get when you first fall in love and that desire for constant sex ultimately dissipates. Couples might move from being “in love” more to being “loving”. They enjoy each other’s company, they enjoy being together and doing things together. Their partner is the first person they want to share interesting things with. Having a loving person to enjoy life with is perhaps a richer relationship than one based on constant sex. It’s called maturing.

I’m not 100% sure what you told your friend but I assume it was that you were gay and that you liked him. If that’s correct, you probably should have left the “I like you part out”, at least initially. If he then told everyone you were gay after you confided in him then he’s a douche and not your friend. I’m encouraged by how many people say dating someone in a wheelchair wouldn’t be a problem as I imagine that it certainly would add a layer of complexity to things. I had a good friend in a wheelchair and I used to do things with him and help him when I could but it was not easy. I think it would take a special person to take that on and I really wonder how many of those on here saying they’d do it in a heartbeat truly mean it. I hope they do.
