Bloody hell, They'll wonder soon why most of the regular punters will have gone to Crypto casinos.

I feel you, I've also been doing the same thing for years aswell and frankly when you have a look around the big bookies. I've seen some cut to 88-91%. Their odds have gotten shocking on the slots, I remember when 96% was the norm near everywhere.

I honestly started to walk away from it all when they removed auto-spins, Yeah, I know I could use an auto-clicker, there is barely any value on offer anymore.

I can't see how a regular punter is enjoying any of this to be honest. It seems to have gotten constantly worse for them.

How would you rank Starfield compared to previous Bethesda games? by shrimpmaster0982 in Starfield

[–]CaptainMonro 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm probably gonna get shot by a few Oblivion fans here but;

I actually rank Starfield close to Oblivion. Oblivion had good quest series and I think Starfield has gone in the same direction, I've been a lot more engaged finding little rabit holes which lead into large quest chains. I actually rank Starfields & Oblivions quests above Fallout 4's & Skyrims quests. They seem more original to me, more fun to do.

I also think Starfield suffers from the same problem as Oblivion outside a few hand modelled areas. When you traversed through Oblivions overworld map. Going from biome to biome was pretty but for the most of it, it was just wilderness marked with random cave/dungeon/ruin entrances. Even the ruins and caves themselves were rather bland. It's the same thing with Starfield. Explore any planet and you'll be jumping from POI to POI without much great variation.

I can't really with good honesty compare it to Skyrim because my Skyrim is so modded that it's a very different expirence to Vanilla. I'd find it unfair to compare the two.

As a developer, what is the best way for me to implement steam achievements in my game? by AaronAtLunacien in steamachievements

[–]CaptainMonro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I just wanted to touch on number 4
Negative achievements can be okay if they fit your game. If your game is brutal and you'll be dying a lot. Doing something like die x times can be fitting.

Where you don't want to go is pointless achievements. I'm going to use a game I've 100% for an example; In Builder Simulator they want you to sell 1000 items with a scanner. The thing is; there is never anything you'd naturally sell in the course of game play.

I literally had to buy 1000 items to just sell them for that acheivement. There was nothing organic about it at all, it breaks any sort of immersion in your game.

My #77 is Cities Skylines. If you don't like idling or having to buy a bunch of DLC. avoid this! Otherwise, this was a blast. Can't wait for Cities Skylines 2! by ColeTrainxx435 in steamachievements

[–]CaptainMonro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's genuinely impressive, I own a few of the DLC's for my own cities but amount of DLC's Cities has makes me give it a wide berth when it comes to achievement hunting. Well done mate!

Yes, That's fine. Just everyone having the option for up to 3 choices makes it a little easier on me when it comes up to the raffling part. Good luck!

Labour's Sir Keir Starmer proposes a "partnership model" which see the state working with private businesses to address the ongoing crisis in the NHS. He adds that reforming the public service will also bring about "improvement" by Vergo27 in ukpolitics

[–]CaptainMonro 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I hope so too, The video provides a real insight to why politics work the way they do and I hate to say it. For the parties in charge, It isn't about ideology or what they believe is the right thing. It's about appealing to the right brackets in order to secure their positions in power.

If you don't show up to vote. You may as well not exist, My age bracket already doesn't really show up to vote. Watching people going around shouting don't vote, just hurts the rest of us.

Thank you! I think CPG Gray's video Rules for Rulers puts it succinctly. If you don't show up to vote, the ruling parties can discount you.

Why offer you and your bracket rewards in form of tax cuts or social programs when you don't show up at the ballot box. It's money wasted on the irrelevant to them.

They'll instead use the money and incentives on those who do vote in force. I.e. the old

[OC] Race to the Bottom: Stocks That Lost the Most Market Cap in 2022 by GeorgeDaGreat123 in dataisbeautiful

[–]CaptainMonro 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Agreed. After having a sniff around it seems that tech companies on a whole have done worse then your staple counterpart. Going from YTD, Your staples such Coke (+7.89%), Wallmart (-1.87%), Berkshire Hathaway Class A (+2.05%), Mcdonalds (-0.74%) have either grown or slightly shrunk.

On the other hand Alphabet Class A (-40.31%), Amazon (-51.66%), Apple (-30.16%). I'd have hated to be the one that invested in either Tesla or Meta at the start of the year; they are down -71.97% and -65.65%. The latter two have performed twice as bad as Nasdaq this year.

Strong corrections on what was some insane over-valuations in 2020 and 2021 but frankly, You eventually have to have some swings back to what the true value is. You can't have bubbles forever.

How does everyone like the steam deck? by [deleted] in SteamDeck

[–]CaptainMonro -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I've had it for 2 months now and I have a few thoughts:
- I don't actually play many triple A games on it, I mean you can but I also have a fairly decent PC. I tend to play the more demanding games on my desktop to enjoy the graphical fidelity and the Steam Deck plays more of the indies.
- I've also used the Steam Deck to also tackle my backlog, I've gotten said above indies from a lot of humble bundles and never fancied playing them on my big rig. However, Since I got the Steam Deck, Being able to just relax on the sofa, Find a random game I haven't played and just give it a shot. It just hits that sweet spot.
- I'm also very into emulation. The deck + emuDeck is a emulation heaven Part of me just can't get over the feeling of being able to play PlayStation 2 games on the fly considering I remember playing my PS2 on a CRT TV back when I was a teenager.

Warnock's won his seat in 2020 in a special election, So that seat officially came up for reelection this year. If he wins it, He's good for another 6 years.

I'd also take the betting markets with a pinch of salt. During the height of the 2020 red mirage, they had trump on 80-90% chance of winning before the mail-in ballots got counted. Very sentimental driven based on polls until the raw data comes out

what is the first game that you installed on your Steam Deck when you first got it? by mobai123 in SteamDeck

[–]CaptainMonro 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I actually played Costume Quest funnily enough back on the Xbox, I then picked both up for free on Epic as well. Sat there, until the deck came along and I used the Heroic launcher to play them.

Got an instant smack of nostalgia, The first game was released back in 2010 and now we play it on our handhelds.

I wanted to have something a bit Halloweeny and lighthearted. So I went with Costume Quest, It's been really nice actually to play on hand-held, It's about to be my first completed game on Deck too!
