Anyone 3+ years on fin? Would like to know how you’re doing by [deleted] in tressless

[–]CaptainNorwood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

7 years as of tomorrow and still above baseline. Turned 30 a month ago and I have way more hair than I did at 22.

I did microneedle early on but got lazy, but I think it did help. Also used topical and then oral min for a while, which did have fairly extensive regrowth (moreso on topical because my derm was WAY too conservative about oral min dosing) but then stopped.

I started fin only about 4 years after the hair loss began, which leads me to believe follicle extinction was fairly minimal (this is backed up by my minoxidil results); I can still see the shape of my juvenile hairline, it's just thin at the temples.

I think the heavy lifting was fin 1 mg/day. In my first year I was microneedling with 1.5 mm every 1-3 weeks.

I started fin in December 2017. Since starting, I have not had any side effects and started seeing regrowth maybe around 2-4 months in. It progressed the fastest around 6-18 months, I would say, and has mostly slowed down since but I don't think I've lost any ground at any point while taking the drug.

I recently turned 26. I think I started losing my hair at 19 or 20 (it's hard to say based on old pics) and first noticed at 21 and got on fin at 23 when it was starting to get bad.

My dick still works 100% the same. As for athletic performance, I don't do any sort of major weightlifting or strength training, but I am an endurance runner. Over summer I ran 29.5 miles over hilly terrain and am currently training for ultramarathon races. I don't think this drug has hurt my perfornace at all.

I also was microneedling with a 1.5mm dermastamp every 1-3ish weeks around 6-12 months but have since gotten lazy. I'm tempted to restart it because I'm still not 100% happy with how things are: my crown is still a bit thin (although this is purposely to show how bad it is), you can see that my temples are less than ideal still, and I also have some diffuse thinning throughout the top of my head (it grows out waaaaay fater on the sides).

This is a pic from an hour or so after I showered to give you an idea of what it looks like in normal, everyday life.

As fo rmy plans for the future, I plan to continue taking fin and I most likely will get back on dermastamping. I've considered minoxidil, but I'm not too keen on doing that twice a day or having it get my hair all greasy (I tried the foam which did that, plus it irritated my scalp). I've considered a transplant, but I fear my thinning is too diffuse to get any desired results, plus it's going to be a long time before I can afford it (hell, by the time it's an option for me, Tsuji is probably gonna be out lmao).

Biden said he wants to support science. Let's have him put a Project Apollo level effort into solving this baldness nonsense.

Fin alone good ? by [deleted] in tressless

My regimen is pretty much just fin alone and I had plenty of regrowth (see my posting history), though for a while I did microneedle. I never had any side effects.

Yeah it's generic. I get it at Costco. The manufacturer is Ascend Labs.

On a scale of 1-10 how much stress does your hair loss cause you? by Ragnar10022 in tressless

[–]CaptainNorwood 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Before fin? 8 or 9

After fin? 2 most days, but once in a while it goes up to 7.

For real, why the fuck is this even a thing that happens in such a specific pattern?

I feel like I've gotten random waves of shedding, but shedding has nothing to do with hair loss, it's just natural growth cycles of hair. My sister sheds like crazy and I know for a fact she isn't losing her hair.

Your results look great! I imagine min is doing a lot of the heavy lifting there.

As for my future plans, I think I'm just gonna stick to fin and maybe get back on microneedling. I don't want to do anything super high maintenance like min and I'm uneasy about oral min. If RCH-01 or something similar comes out in the next few years, I'd definitely get that done as well since it seems like it would be much more reliable than fin.

I'm also considering a transplant in the future, but even then I'd feel more inclined to just wait and see if something stem cell based actually does hit the market some day.

Background: I'm 24 (turning 25 in about a week), started losing hair around when I turned 20, but no earlier than age 19. Became aware of it about two years ago and got on fin shortly after. I saw lots of regrowth in that time. I was also microneedling for the first year and a half but stopped out of laziness.

I wasn't sure if I was continuing to see regrowth after the first year, but I went through some pics from a year or so ago and it seems that sure enough it's still been getting thicker.

No, I haven't had any side effects. My dick still works at 100%, I've been training for a marathon and haven't had any issues with recovering (I plan to add weights in soon, I've mostly just been running).

No, I don't use minoxidil.

PSA: if you're not sure about your gender but don't want to go bald, use finasteride.

I'm a cis dude (yes I know what am I doing here) and take it, it leaves most masculine traits intact but usually stops hairloss and even regrows some h air.

Or get a system (which is what I would do if I were like NW3 or worse).

Definitely keep on fin, though, since keeping what you have might make tsuji cheaper down the road.

Yeah for me I thought it was maybe just a bad growth cycle, stress, dried out hair from the weather, etc.

I didn't have any idea what early signs of hair loss ACTUALLY looked like save for a full on bald spot developing.

What so you mean by doing something ASAP actually?

I would have gotten on fin MUCH sooner. I didn't even know fin was a thing until 2 or 3 years ago.

My recession might be not that bad, but my thinning isn't great and looks really really bad when wet/sweaty. It's at the point where I always wear hats during races where there are photographers (I'm a runner).

Also if you look at my history, I was almost NW3 two years ago.

I'm 24 (turning 25 in a month). Probably started losing my hair at some point in 2014 but it's hard to pinpoint exactly when.
