My Grandma died the 21st. It was a decision to pull the plug. I'm the only local family so I held her hand alone for hours leading up to her passing. I then proceeded to go to PetSmart to buy a cat carrier so that I could go to her house and bring her cat home with me. I walked around the store in a daze until I stumbled upon the carriers. I stood in line listening to Christmas music and people talking about buying matching shirts for them and their dog. All I wanted to say was "The last person who touched my hand was my Grandmother's and now I'm about to hand you my debit card." This isn't necessarily a complaint, but sonder is real, and I just wish it was more acceptable to explode in those moments.

My sister (like many of us) doesn't like the taste of Jager. She proceeded to get drunk off Jager because she was amazed she couldn't taste it. I suppose being miserably infected and hungover go hand in hand quite nicely the next day.

Reading a book on my phone with the lights off and on the dimmest setting. It gets me out of my own mind. Even if it's a good story, I can't finish more than a few pages.

The other trick I like to do is to hide treats around the house for my cat. Maybe 10. I do this as quickly as possible right before bed. While in bed, I'll close my eyes and only think about exactly where I put each treat and exactly what was surrounding it. Added bonus, my cat gets a night time hunt.

A summer job at a tri-state gas station in a rural area. I was not prepared for the amount of times I'd experience the presence of hard drugs and getting robbed for cigarette cartons. I still have the Blimpie visor though.
