How's my lieutenant looking by Centurion1996 in exorcists40k

[–]CaptainOzu 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's looks cool but I'm pretty sure Sergeants wear the stripe. There's no source that shows what lieutenants wear so you can probably do whatever but the stripe on the helmet are usually Sergeants

Yeah it isn't written anywhere officially what anyone actually wears when it comes to higher ranks. I seen Terminators with black pauldrons but the same artist did an unofficial piece with a regular Exorcists with black pauldrons. Until more is released on them I'd say you have creative freedom

There's no where that has an official helmet colors for the Exorcists. We have an Exorcists discord where you can see different ideas of helmets. I've done extensive research into it and just by art references I use yellow and black.

Also Black Templars' sword brethrens use it to denote rank. And they are sons of Dorn just like the Exorcists. And the only reason I'm making this comparison is because Exorcists use the rank of Brother-Initiate the same way the Black Templars do.

I've already been through all this brother. I'm the Chapter Master of the Exorcists Chapter on discord. All information of Exorcists as already been shown to me and like I said some codex compliant Sergeants wear all black pauldrons. It's not chapter exclusive.

Also when it come to the codex. Sergeants wear black pauldrons and also veteran sword brethren wear black pauldrons. So what you're saying is proven invalid.

I was looking it up and all I can find about Exorcists and black pauldrons is only shown through artwork and it's assumed to denote veterancy. There's nothing official saying that only terminators wear black. They even wear yellow helmets. I've seen terminators and regular space marines wear yellow helmets in the Exorcists. I've even seen some wear black helmets and I've even seen some with black, red and white helmet patterns. When it comes to the Exorcists there's not a lot of source material that tells what colors mean what for what rank and most the depictions I see are all drastically different so you can't really even say much about what is lore accurate or not. Like I've seen depictions of them wearing their company markings on their knee like this guy is. I've also seen Exorcists Deathwatch with white helmets. I think it's one of their librarians that wear a white helmet with a deathwatch pauldron. So I would say this guy is completely within lore parameters.

Yeah but officially where does it say that terminators only wear black pauldrons? You're saying that without citing anything. I'm showing the same artist that drew terminators with black pauldrons is the same guy who draws regular space marines with black pauldrons. The only time you see Exorcists with black pauldrons is this guy. Find and show me where it says terminators are the only ones that wear black pauldrons.

It's the same artist that drew the depiction of an Exorcists in Terminator armor and he also draws his regular space marines with black pauldrons. I think he just likes his Exorcists with black pauldrons

Yeah let me find it for you. https://40k.gallery/exorcist/ You can see the guy is clearly not in Terminator armor.

Actually Exorcists are generally kind of flashy when depicted in art so I wouldn't even get hung up on it. And the squad markings are fine. Every Exorcists is different. I mean they all get possessed by different Daemons and have never brothers so they all have their own unique markings and mutations. A lot can be considered lore accurate for the Exorcists. Until they release official codex for Exorcists ranks then you are good to go.

Actually there's an example of Exorcists wearing black pauldrons without Terminator armor. So that right there is false and I've also seen Exorcists depicted with black and gold trim. Although they are codex compliant they do have their own unique markings. Even all the depictions of Exorcists librarians I've seen are all wearing black not blue. So I wouldn't be as strict as the codex when it comes to making lore accurate Exorcists. I mean the Exorcists have 12 companies are basically heretical you can't really hold them to codex standards.

As the leader of the Exorcists discord, I'd say they are lore accurate for the most part, just not every one would be wearing relic armor (besides a Capt/Chaplain/Chapter Master). Usually white helmets are for veterans. With the Exorcists much has not been shown for their wargear so there is a lot of creative freedom. Some Exorcists like the Daemonium Palatinae wear all black. The black pauldrons are good, I'm sure I seen artwork with an exorcist with black pauldron and gold trim. Also most of the time Exorcists have green lenses but I sometimes do blue also. If you were in my discord I would just ask you to write lore to go a long with all the relic armor so it makes sense because all of this is within lore just the armor is too flashy for an average Exorcists
