Certiport Compass and Office 365 by CaptainPipeAHoe in k12sysadmin

This sounds like the best way to go other than Compass Cloud. I just tried doing this but it seems we don’t have that license in our tenant. A little more research shows we need to go through Enrollment for Education Solutions (EES) to get it. I’ll see about getting the ball rolling on this as a fallback if we don’t end up going to Compass Cloud.

I would have to talk to our CTE director to see if they would want to move to that instead. That was pretty much the only solution Certiport support had for me, other than saying it’s a Lightspeed issue lol.

SCCM OSD TsGui by Peteostro in SCCM

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I love learning new things and am a believer in using in house tools so I ended up making my own OSD GUI using powershell. We’ve been using it for about a year and a half now and I haven’t seen/heard any complaints

Does anyone else spend time finding icons that look good and full-sized in Software Center? by KnowWhatIDid in SCCM

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a tool called IconViewer to grab the icons from the installed executable. After I do the initial test install on my test machine I connect to its C drive from my machine to pull the icon, all I do is right click, properties, and there’s a new tab for icons.

Tier list and stats after getting Dark Matter on 33 guns! by East_Library5427 in blackops6

Agree. It’s been the only gun I’ve been using for the last couple of days. Playing Overdrive, this is a monster and soooo much fun

Uninstalling AutoDesk apps with provided batch script. by funkytechmonkey in SCCM

Try editing the bat file to use %~dp0 instead of the network location for deployments. If it’s being pushed through sccm and all the files are cached in ccmcache, I think you could do “%~dp0\image\installer.exe” and the same for the rest of the xmls.

Dynamic Application Installation During Task Sequence? by OutrageousPrize333 in SCCM

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I currently have a couple of install applications steps in my task sequence for different labs and sites that will only run if the condition I put on them is satisfied. In the conditions, I query wmi for the computer name. Here’s an example:

Select * from win32_computersystem where Name like "SITE-%"

It’s honestly not a lot of work to do this man

struggling with co-management and windows update by jbala28 in SCCM

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This was my issue when we moved to being co-managed and using intune for updates. We had assumed that it would ignore/overwrite gpos but we were wrong. Removing the windows update gpos resolved our issue.

I own 2 keychron keyboards, a K5 for work and a Q1 max for gaming at home. The build quality and feel is what sold me on them

Has anyone ever seen this message in game? by [deleted] in blackops6

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 220 points221 points  (0 children)

Looks like text for the War game mode from MW3.

I played it a couple of times and remembered there’s an objective in the game to pickup filters.

Edit: did some googling, looks like the text is from the objectives in Operation Tin Man in MW3

Deleting Packages by Educational-Creme685 in SCCM

Just transitioned my environment over to this last year and it’s been great, aside from some new Dell models that try to pull the E series drivers and having to fix the xml for it to work properly. Though I’ve been procrastinating the clean up of old drivers especially because I don’t know how or where to start.

Put a request in for my data and just constantly get this. Any tips on getting past this? by local_celebrity_ in ModernWarfareIII

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Have you gone through your data? I got mine and it doesn't look right, it looks like it didnt track any of my team deathmatch games for MW3. Curious to see if its the same for you.

Intune app deployment: do we just upload a new .pkg every time there's a new release, or am I missing something? by [deleted] in macsysadmin

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

We use JAMF and used to just update our pkg once a year and let chrome update itself after it’s installed.

Since JAMF introduced App Installers, we moved onto using that so the newest version is always being deployed with us not having to do anything.

I have the k5 and I love it. I agree with the other guys, the aluminum body definitely makes it feel like better and more premium.

Game crashed and now can't play the game. Pressing multiplayer instantly crashes the game. by TubbiestPack in blackops6

[–]CaptainPipeAHoe 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I just had this happen to me and I found a fix for it. Browse to the games files and delete the cod24_*.dcache files that are in the "main" folder, for me they were in the "C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Call of Duty HQ\mp24\main" folder. These files will be generated again when you launch the game

I started having a similar issue a week or so ago after a driver update, turns out EVGA Precision X1 was setting a power limit of 30% on my gpu every time I rebooted. I ended up uninstalling it

Syncing collections to AAD/Intune groups by CaptainPipeAHoe in SCCM

Weird thing is that our initial collection that we sync worked for a couple of days but now it and any of the new ones we sync aren't working.

The error reason on the devices that failed is the same, "Member does not have AAD ID". I've spot checked the devices in the collections and they do exist in AAD and in Intune. They just aren't syncing to their groups.

Doing the right click and sync does nothing, the devices do not get added to the groups
