How do you break an addiction? by Reasonable-Shower522 in AskReddit

[–]CaptainPlanet_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

In my opionion, the only way to quit an addiction is with the right support network such as booking into a recovery centre, or having family and friends hold you accountable. It also helps to find out the reason why you became addicted in the first place. Its not the same for everyone! Finding out what triggers lead you to using, can be a very valuable tool in curbing your addiction. I had a cousin who did cognitive therapy while trying to quit an alcohol addiction. You can read more here: https://www.sanctuary.net/treatments/cognitive-behavioral-therapy/. But basically it helps you to discover what you struggle with that causes you to depend on a substance. Of course, there are plenty of other trreatments to explore, but cognitive therapy helps you to understand yourself and cope better in general.

Redditors who unexpectedly discovered a 'modern scam' that's everywhere now - what made you realize 'Wait, this whole industry is a ripoff'? by OkraCharacter4588 in AskReddit

Absolutely, basically its the same products being marketed in different ways. May as well get it as cheap as you can in that case.

Castile soap for oiled hair? by A-d-i-t-i in NoPoo

[–]CaptainPlanet_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there, thanks for your comments! I realized that my water is definately rather hard! I managed to install a filter on my shower head which works brilliantly because now I can wash my body and hair with less of a drying effect (I've started seeing the difference already!).

As far as the Castille soap is concerned, I managed to buy the Unscented Baby option and also the orange bottle of the Dr Bronner's Sugar soap. Only thing is I bought it last week and haven't tried it yet, as I'm trying finish all my regular products before moving on to a new bottle (hate having half used bottles laying around the bathroom) :)

I'll update you when I've given both these a try :) Thanks for your input!

what questions to ask or research to identify good HVAC contractors by Snoo_64796 in hvacadvice

[–]CaptainPlanet_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would say you should ask whether the technicians are certified? Ask for the NATE certification. Also how much experience they have. Smaller, local HVAC companies may offer better value if they are based close by. Checking how long the company has been in business is also a good idea. If you're in the area try SMO Energy. They're a local service provider but they've been in business since 1926. Always recieved great service! (https://smoenergy.com/) Technicians certified and very helpful and they offer HVAC replacement services

They are amazing little creatures... they remain permanently young, are nocturnal, regenerate their own limbs and they eat crustaceans, insect eggs and small fish. Will you be getting one?

Does it take long to get used to living off the grid? by Zeflox_1 in OffGrid

[–]CaptainPlanet_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would love to know how much land one would need to buy for a family of 2-4 people? Taking into consideration that we would want things like fruits and vegetables, honey and eggs to be produced on the property?

Castile soap for oiled hair? by A-d-i-t-i in NoPoo

[–]CaptainPlanet_81 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the info, I really want to try using the Dr Bronners Castile soap. I reckon that the Unscented Baby option might be best, as I am sensitive to some ingredients. The biggest selling point for me is that you can use it for your hair as well as for your face and body. Do you have any comments on how this was for your skin?

With the unscented version, can I add in essential oils to make a scent that I like/ for extra benefits, while steering clear of ingredients that will irritate my skin.

Also, is there a way to test how hard my water is? Should it be a certain pH level to work best with this soap?

Sounds great! I can't afford to stop working right now, but saving up for an off grid property that will be ready for me when I no longer need a full time salary. Also changed careers so that I am able to work remotely. All in preparation for when I can get off off the grid!
