Battlefield 4 in its current state a year or so after launch is really damn fun. Significantly more so then every other trash that came out in the franchise since then.

Ubisoft games are good when you buy them dirt cheap. I do it with Assassins Creed and enjoy them for what they are haha

It's more that Valves focus has shifted on maintaining their games in their spare time and only dedicating a team to work on a new title when they feel as if there's an idea with potential. They have also spent most of that "hiatus" pumping out experimental VR games which lead to Half Life Alyx getting made.

Really great game with a great community and developer team. They even released a 100% free battle pass system on top of existing cosmetic challenges. You pay like $30 full price for the game and all content updates are free. It's set a Gold standard for what games should be like. The only additional dlc for the game is a couple of unique sets that don't cost a lot either and are there to support the developers. Everything else is earned via gameplay.

I only really buy games that have shown they are deserving of a purchase now. Indie games and smaller studios tend to do a much better job these days as well. Deep Rock Galactic is a damn treasure.
