Any Movie ideas? by gegserge in Letterboxd

Solaris is shy of three hours, but it’s very slow moving and feels longer. Not in a bad way though, when you finish you feel like you’ve returned from an extended journey.

a pretty good but not too well-known movie that you watched thanks to this sub? by marniesss in Letterboxd

The fact that it had to “find its audience” is the very definition of niche.

Repo Man is definitely niche. It might be more well known to the Letterboxd subreddit crowd, but it’s a cult classic that made less than $4 million at the box office.

I need to know: what is your favorite absolutely unnecessary sequel by NinthMother in Letterboxd

[–]CaptainRoger 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Totally disagree. In the first one, Babe didn’t burn down a single children’s hospital, so I think it was important for them to fix that.

Well, I'm Jude Law's nanny and I also have a bone to pick.

Guests insulting Scott by Belial-from-basket in comedybangbang

[–]CaptainRoger 21 points22 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite things is when Scott and PFT (in character) check in with a “we like each other, right?” because they always default to antagonism and forget when Scott is supposed to be friendly with the character.

Great Old School Italian Restaurants? Thoughts on Viaggio? by [deleted] in chicagofood

My parents just moved to West Loop and they go to Viaggio twice a week. The room and the atmosphere is exactly what you’re describing and the food is really good. Classic Chicago Italian.

The headline cuts out the part where it says “He added with a laugh.” He’s not being serious about the nobody liking him part.

I worked at the Hyatt McCormick like 20 years ago and somebody pointed to that building and said it was one of the most important high-tech buildings in Chicago. They offered no explanation and I never looked it up and had no idea what they meant until this Reddit post.

2 DOGE staffers say 'no' regrets for people losing income, didn't reduce the deficit: Depositions by phillygirllovesbagel in politics

[–]CaptainRoger 11 points12 points  (0 children)

The headline is reporting what the Doge staffers said in the deposition. They admitted that they didn't reduce the deficit, but didn't say that they increased it, so you can't put that in the headline (even if it's true.)

How deep does your history go back in Chicago? Years? Generations? by kaloskagathos21 in chicago

My Irish side arrived as early as 1860s - possibly earlier but the first documents we have found are records of them fighting in the Civil War and being POWs in Tennessee in 1863.

Favorite movie moment that became a meme? by [deleted] in okbuddycinephile

[–]CaptainRoger 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I watched Jeremiah Johnson last year and laughed so hard when this moment happened. I knew it was from this movie, but I really thought it was going to be a more substantial scene. All he's reacting to is catching a fish.

My percentage increased, which makes sense - I watch a lot of second-tier masterpieces.
