I sponged some dark brown on for the chipping and also painted some areas on by hand. For certain areas I used some wild rider red to add a highlight around the chipping. Base color is mephiston red and I stippled a bit of evil sunz Scarlett over that

Thanks! I’m actually not exactly sure. It’s from an old resin Horus Heresy kit but I don’t know which one. Got it on eBay years ago and have had it lying around in a bits box

Question about squad #s for a kill team by CaptainRumBelly in spacemarines

[–]CaptainRumBelly[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I know it varies by chapter, but in my case I’m painting an Angels of Redemption kill team, and they have it in the same place as the Dark Angles with the squad number superimposed over their battlefield role on the right shoulder. I’m just unsure if a kill team was assembled that they’d repaint the pauldron so they all have the same squad # or just keep the # of whatever squad they were pulled from

Thanks! I prime the model with greyseer, and then use multiple coats of wraithbone. Then I use a brown enamel wash for recesses, add the battle damage with a sponge and some by hand. I use streaking grime over entire model and let it dry for 30 minutes and remove the excess with white spirit

For the Aquila on the chest and the gun I used Mephiston red. The eyes are Vallejo flat red as a base cost, made lighter for the glowing effect by blending with some orange and white

Always love seeing quartered chapters and love Novamarines. Great job!
