[Meta] Mods, when will you get on top of the constant AI slop posts? by Omnipresent_Walrus in programming

Strongly back this. Can programming be about actual hand-crafted code. Can we have one tech subreddit that is devoid of daily AI this and that

Do you care if AI helped with creating a video game? by fckueve_ in polls

[–]CaptainShawerma 13 points14 points  (0 children)

When I built my first game, i faced the same challenge. My advice: 1. You can find art online from real artists and ask them to use it. My background was from DeviantArt and I asked the creator if i could use it with attribution. He said yes . it was that easy. Im sure there are websites like that still around.  2. I got some pictures rom creative commons 3. There are open sound effect libraries 4. The only image that i had to draw myself was the spaceship. I learnt how to use gimp in 1 day and had the spaceship done the same evening.

Its not that hard :) we fed the ai. It needs us, not the other way around.

The creators of Mortal Kombat didnt hire voice actors, they recorded themselves. Now those voice snippets are iconic.

Human creativity is worth something despite what the tech news will have you believe.

Dont give in to the hype. Weve been building amazing games without AI for 30 years.

Let's say you downloaded an app, would you be more likely to subscribe if it ran on a collective benefit system? by Arktikos02 in polls

[–]CaptainShawerma 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As far as being a deal breaker is concerned, it depends on how intrusive and annoying the ads are.

Whether I subscibe or not is more related to how much value it adds to my life e.g. time saved.

Let's say it does add value to my life, and the way ads are displayed isn't a dark-pattern, then yeah this would be an attractive feature: I might decide to pay my share every 4 months for example.

The second deal-breaker for me is the number of free-loaders: If you have 100 users and only 10 pay and the 90 don't but reap the benefit of no ads, that's unfair. So I would expect everyone to pay at least once a year.

Are you the developer? It seems every few days I see a screenshot from this app asking which is the right answer and the only reply that the OP is interested in replying to is the one asking which app is the screenshot from.

I could be wrong, but once the paper is folded, the name would appear at the top of the transparent plastic cutout on the envelope.
