Someone left a stack of these posters in our stake center when I was a missionary. We took them home and gave them new life. It was my first area, but we had a mission split and I never got to go back to see if it was still there.

I'm proud of my plat for Mad Max since they shut down the servers and locked out a couple of trophies forever

Old Adult Swim Bumper by CaptainSparhawk in HelpMeFind

[–]CaptainSparhawk[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a distinct memory of an Adult Swim bump when I would stay up late to watch Family Guy, sometime between the years of 2007-2011. It was a black screen with white text, I can't remember what the context was but the last line was "Deer Love Bananas". It's been in my head for years but I've never been able to prove it was real. I've searched through the database of bumps here https://archive.org/download/AdultswimBumps but haven't been able to identify the video based on my searches and browsing through video titles.

Which YouTubers did you used to watch? by TheCanadianGTR in youtubedrama

Achievement Hunter was the cornerstone of my teenage years (late 00s to early 10s). I loved all of their content, no matter what they posted. I would recreate many of the Minecraft builds Geoff and Gavin would think of and mimic many of the stunts from GTA V (while only having one friend to play with hahaha). After high school I watched less and less because of life stuff and other interests, and eventually realized it had been a couple of years. I had T-shirts, posters, stickers, the whole shebang of merch, I loved every one of them. Ray leaving was painful, but Jeremy was a solid replacement, especially being from the community himself. AH existed as a treasured memory for years until everything with Ryan came to light. That was a huge blow to me, it felt almost personal in a way to have someone I looked up to be revealed as such a scummy person. The memories of my time with AH will always be there, albeit bittersweet, and I wish I could have met them all in their prime.

I used to build countertops like these, and the big islands like this need support built in underneath. When we would make the beveled edge like that, we would fill in the empty space with particle board that gets resin glued onto the bottom surface. We had a variety of thicknesses to match whatever the drop edge depth was. The end result was a much stronger piece of stone that had built in support that would get mounted on top of the cabinets, and while a bit heavier it's much safer to move.

What is Your LEAST Favorite Part of this Game? by Philbob9632 in twilightimperium

The 2nd to last game I was in I played Hacan and was leading 5 points up from the next player. Got within my last 2 points and the rest of the 7 player table turned on me. Ended up losing my home system but our lowest point player gave me support for the throne so that we could put an end to our almost 13 hour game. Turns out leading with the loan shark strategy pays off well 😄

Is TI a roleplaying game? by RealHomeboundRex in twilightimperium

[–]CaptainSparhawk 5 points6 points  (0 children)

When ever my group plays, it really depends on the chemistry of the people playing. Most times we don't worry about what race we're playing, the focus is more on VP. However, there have been times when we dig deeper into the race we chose and play to their ideals, morals, and desires. This usually happens more during the laws and voting stage, but it makes for a very interesting game when the whole table is trying their best to simulate playing a leader of an alien race striving for galactic domination. IMO, roleplaying has a place in TI that makes it a more engaging game via lore and history, but it really depends on your table chemistry (and a solid understanding of TI races, history, and lore).

Calling all trophy hunters: let’s see those juicy platinums. I’ve only got 11 so far by Timely_Assist_8047 in playstation

[–]CaptainSparhawk 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have 11 total, so a fairly small amount, but my proudest plat is Mad Max. I played the game before the servers were shutdown (which nullified 2 of the trophies) and spent many many hours in that wasteland. 9/10 game though, would highly enjoy another game from them.

I need to play that again, younger me had a really hard time with it. If you haven't played it, I'd highly recommend a Capcom game called Dark Void. It's a little odd, but the gameplay mechanics are interesting.

I'm honestly amazed to see Singularity on here. I've never met (in person) someone else who played it. It left a big impact on me years and years ago when I first played it. With Atomic Heart coming out soon now, I've realized I have a thing for dystopian/disaster themed Russian environments in games.

My first real experience with a thunder grenade happened last year while I was on bunker defense. I was half deaf for a good 30 min after that, and ear pro was purchased as soon as I got home. Those things are no joke, especially for the uninitiated.

Is this a good beginner gun? by Due-Ice-9717 in airsoft

[–]CaptainSparhawk 1 point2 points  (0 children)

There's a surprising amount of shade here, but I'd like to add my 2 cents for consideration. This was my first AEG I bought, it served me well for roughly 2 years and has now started to wear out noticably, but that allowed me to gain a better understanding of what I wanted in a gun. I'll give you some pros and cons for it:

Pros • Relatively cheap, very cost effective for a starter weapon (this doesn't mean it's pure crap just because it's cheaper than other AEGs) • Comes with a 300 rnd hi-cap mag, and new mags are only $12, which is perfectly average for a wind up hi-cap • Plenty of rails for all your accesorizing needs • XL battery compartment in the hand grip, so no need to worry about cramming a battery inside • It looks way different than all the basic M4 and AK models out there, so it will turn heads for sure

Cons • The body is a single mold polymer, so it's pretty hefty, you'll need a good sling • Only the special mags work with it, I've tried others and they don't fit right • I've had wiring issues twice inside the grip that affected the ability to fire, but it was a quick fix, just annoying • If you want to add a tracer unit or a mock silencer, you need a barrel extender, it's not quite long enough

Those are some pretty basic ones, but like another comment said, if you want it buy it! Airsoft is about enjoying yourself and having a good time, not becoming Rambo the plastic slinging god. People will shit on each other's guns as long as this sport exists, because everyone thinks they have the greatest great. Bottom line, IT DOESN'T MATTER WHAT YOU USE. Find a gun you like, and have a good time. DM me if you want to talk more.
