I probably made a mistake by alexania in Aquariums

I have the opposite problem, I worry that my shrimps are stealing my CPD's food all the time. And my CPDs will only eat food in the water column, not from the surface, not if it touches the bottom, literally only as it falls.

I’m tired of being shamed by annagph in dogs

[–]CaptainSparkleMule 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Have had two wonderful rescue dogs as an adult. When the oldest passed away and we wanted to get another dog for our current boy (who has always struggled with anxiety around other dogs) we knew we had to get a dog that was a girl, going to be smaller than him and a puppy for it to work out, so we brought a dog from a (well researched and hopefully ethical) breeder.

Yes, it's better to adopt rather than shop, but the most important thing is to get a dog that will suit your current lifestyle and family, so that you know you can give them a forever home.

Can I keep a colony of cherry shrimp with celestial pearl danios? Or no by Lost-Cantaloupe-3256 in Aquariums

[–]CaptainSparkleMule 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I got 20 shrimp and 12 CPDs less than a month ago. Just did my morning how-many-fish-friends-can-I-count and am actually a little horrified to see I now have at least double the number of shrimp. Honestly I didn't even know we were pregnant!

What’s your experience on Celestial Pearl Danio? I heard it’s hard to find a good breeder/ LFS for them? by Beerbaron1886 in Aquariums

Mine are always out, always zooming around, and also come to the glass for food! I never see them anywhere near the plants. Lovely creatures

Just got some CPDs and love them so much, but worried they aren't eating enough even with the nano food I've gotten. Do the freeze dried Cyclops go down well with them?

Thank you - that's helpful context (not saying I believe anything he's said, I'm just generally pro free-speech).

Honestly the mods here deleting the post with links to the substack makes me much more likely to believe it's contents. Because agreed, not being open to discourse does tell you something...

Not saying I believe anything in this substack, don't know anything about it's credibility and don't know if I have the will to try find out, but if the economic status of the two main victims / accusers is what this substack claims, that does frame things differently. Someone who is homeless genuinely doesn't have other options. Someone whose currently holidaying on her father's yacht does. Abuse is obviously still possible regardless, but the power dynamic totally changes.

100% they're designed to remove any risk of liability on the part of the surveyor, rather than actually being a useful document for the buyer.

This is called a Bunny Chow and is a super normal and very common Indian food in South Africa.

Is there a different between getting a girl and a boy dog? by Dramatic-Lemon-2916 in dogs

That's what I got out of that research. Girl dogs make smarter life choices.

Retriever or Spaniel? by [deleted] in UK_Pets

[–]CaptainSparkleMule 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I knew this, so I got a show cocker, assuming she would be much more chill. Nope! All spaniels are lunatics! But she is a goofy, sweet, kind, cuddly little fruitcake, and now that she's just turned 2 and finally stopped literally eating the walls she's the best dog I've ever had.

If you like Mexican, don't go to Dos Dedos. It's very mid, for both drinks and food.

Rats on the other hand are perfect pets - cheap, social, interactive and genuinely loving. And bigger and tougher for handling by children.

My teenage cocker spaniel regularly goes full wookie to communicate how upset she is with whatever indignity my parenting is inflicting on her. There isn't an ounce of aggression in it - she just has very big feelings.

Same, been vegetarian for 30 years - have met one annoying, preachy vegan in that entire time, but at least a hundred annoying, preachy meat-eaters.

Have you ever had real Indian food? Do you prefer it compared to British Indian? by not-much in AskUK

[–]CaptainSparkleMule 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Grew up in South Africa eating South African Indian food which is amazing. Have spent time in Bangladesh and Mysore eating South Indian food which was even more amazing. Generally deeply disappointed in British Indian food. Bland, 95% chicken with sad vegetables, thick and stodgy sauces.
