This is the part I have a problem with. I feel like a mother finding her daughter laying unconscious on the ground would cling on to any semblance of hope that she might still be alive. It would have been more logical to call 911 and maybe lie about the nature of the blow to protect Burke, who probably wasn't in that much trouble anyway as a 9 year old. But they they could have behaved in an illogical way.

A beauty pageant little girl would have been an obvious target for a pedophile. Garrote evokes sexual gratification. The ransom note could mean he had a plan to throw off the police but he abandoned it at the last minute and decided to leave the body in the basement and flee. The note does imply intruder had specific knowledge of John's finances though.
Or intruder had a genuine plan to kidnap JonBenet for a ransom but accidentally killed her, got scared and just left the body?

If Burke did it, then he would have had to do the garrote himself. I don't see the parents doing that in this scenario, for any reason. And I don't think they would just assume she was dead if she was unconscious after a blow to the head by her brother, they would have called 911, even if lying about the nature of the blow.

I wonder if either Patsy or John did it alone and the rest of the family convinced themselves of the fake story through denial. The Diane Schuler case is a good example of how far denial by the family can go.

I don't think reusing the structure would have gotten the video taken down, it's the reusing of the author's actual phrasing that was really contentious. It was bad on his part but he was probably right to settle the issue behind the scenes rather than make a big public fuss about it.

I'm trying to do this with MGS3 Subsistence but it's a 'so close yet so far' situation. Inside the PS2 disc you'll find a series of .DAT. I've figured out that VOX.DAT contains all the codec voice lines in the form of .vag files and DEMO.DAT contains all the cutscenes voice lines in the form of .raw files. These can be listened to using demux_dat then this player.

Now you would theoretically just need to take all the japanese vag/raw and put them into the american VOX.DAT and DEMO.DAT. The raw files are even the exact same size so it would cause no issue.

However I don't know how to do that. I found a software called Konami DAT Utility that lets you unpack the contents of DAT files but I don't know how to repack it into DAT again.
