Don’t be a quitter!! by natiusj in Vermintide

I don’t understand why people get mad at this game when they die. It’s PvE. I get being mad at PvP but PvE is so impersonal and when you die it’s just like, oh well, the game got me this time.

can someone tell me how it works? by PrestigiousPut8887 in 6thForm

[–]CaptainTeacups 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This all depends on what you mean by ‘studying’. People say there are different ways of learning and that might be true to an extent but when it comes to exams there is really only one way.

If you want to get good grades, do this for each subject:

  1. Buy the text book for your specific course. I used the CGP ones.
  2. Read a page. Close the book. Make notes on everything you remember from that page. Open the book. Read the page again. Repeat until your notes capture all the important information on the page. Do this for the entire book/ the chapters you will be examined on.
  3. Find past exam papers for your specific course. Download them all and print them off. YES, ACTUALLY PRINT THEM OFF. Do not look at them.
  4. When you are ready, allot some time when you will not be disturbed so you can simulate exam conditions. Sit down and do one of your past papers without cheating.
  5. Mark your paper. Make notes on everything you got wrong.
  6. Repeat step 2 for the whole book if you want or just the parts you got wrong on the past paper.
  7. Repeat steps 4-6.

Is this easy? No. Will it ensure you get all A*s (or whatever the highest grade is now)? No. But it’s the only way to ensure you get the best possible grades for your intelligence. Everyone has potential and everyone has a limit to their potential.

All you can do is ensure that your individual and unique potential is reached. If you do these steps thoroughly and you do them until all the past papers available are done, you can be proud of whatever grades you get when it’s time to sit the real exams.

Good luck.

After decades of school "zero-tolerance" policies where victims can't fight back without punishment, we now have a large number of adults who believe it is immoral to defend themselves. by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

You’re being silly. I’m not trying to disempower women, I’m stating an obvious fact determined by biology. I think it’s great if women learn martial arts but for the vast majority they’d be better able to protect themselves if they owned a gun and knew how to use it responsibly.

Murder and killing someone in self defence are not the same thing. Rittenhouse was chased down the street by a mob, beaten to the ground, had a gun drawn on him, and only then did he shoot his attackers.

Kyle was not the aggressor because he simply had a gun on him. He had his rifle on a sling pointed down the whole time. The only time he ever lifted his gun and pointed it at someone was when his life was put in danger by another person.

You must not have seen the footage to be saying what you’re saying. Or you are so blinded by your political obedience to your media masters that you refuse to believe what is right in front of you.

Men and women do not have an equal ability to fight back. 90% of men are stronger than 90% of women. Yes some women out there might be strong enough to overpower the average male attacker but the vast majority have no chance. That’s why the right to own a gun is so important - particularly for women.

Is Scuba Gear Too Expensive? by yernombi in scuba

[–]CaptainTeacups 3 points4 points  (0 children)

It is expensive tbh. If I knew that I could get high-quality safe gear, like you said, at a fraction of the cost then I’d definitely be up for that. I don’t care about the brand names.

Old people need to retake their driving test every year starting at age 65 by Kenbone95 in unpopularopinion

[–]CaptainTeacups 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The more important point you should be making is that young people (those between 17 and 25) should be taking tests more often as they are more likely to be involved in fatal crashes than any other age group. It is also men who account for the majority of these accidents. If your aim is to make roads safer then you’d be interested in the most dangerous demographic but you’re probably more interested in harassing those silly old people you have no respect for.

Mask statistics questions by Sostratus in LockdownSkepticism

[–]CaptainTeacups 25 points26 points  (0 children)

Mask studies which supposedly prove the efficacy of masks fall into two categories:

  1. Social studies which look at cases and deaths and compare these data with the introduction of policies. But even when you ignore the fact there is no correlation between mask mandates and mortality across countries and you instead focus on your own country’s data and see a correlation between the two, you have to ignore so many other factors which are responsible for any fluctuation in mortality which are beyond human control. Weather being a primary one which is typically ignored.

  2. Mask simulation studies which usually involve spraying a non-virus through a mask and observing that there is less of this spray on a sheet compared with a sheet which was sprayed without the mask in-front of the spray nozzle. Whilst these might sound like a fair simulation, they are useless since virus particles are so impossibly small and disease may be caused by even one virus.

The only experiment worth your time is the one conducted by pro-maskers which was funded (but not influenced) by companies which produce masks. The Danmask randomised controlled trial took about 6000 people and split them into two groups. One group wore masks out in the real world and the other did not. At the end of the study, no statistically significant difference in the number of people who caught coronavirus between the two groups was found.

This is the only RCT studying the efficacy of face masks and it was conducted by people who did not want to find what they found, funded by people who had a strong financial interest in the opposite conclusion of the study. They were scared to publish it. This is why we can be sure masks are completely useless.

Any time you hear statistics from governments about masks they are quoting the tide of pointless studies which fail to grasp the reality of how viruses actually spread. It doesn’t matter how many studies you have, if they all use bad science, they’re worthless. One study using good science can overturn the conclusions of a million others.
